When I first booked this trip to Machu Picchu, it said 7400 feet in elevation, which I thought no big deal, we are already at 5280.   Then I read Cusco is where we will be staying before entering the park, and its elevation is 11,151.

Ok, a trip to Breck....what a fun day!   I love Boreas Pass, but sadly yesterday it was still closed for the season.   There is lots of snow melting, making these dirt roads very muddy.   With no cell service, didn't really want to get stuff in the mud in the middle of nowhere!   So, took the long route into Breck, and walked all over the city and back to my car.   It is 9600 in the city.   Also went over Hoosier Pass (11,542) and Kenosha Pass (10,000), so HOPEFULLY that will help.

I also know to hydrate, and that usually keeps altitude sickness at bay.   Also bought some hydration packets, just in case.

Wasn't too surprised to see so much snow on the way - on Mother's Day in Denver we went below 32 degrees overnight, and the mountains got more snow.  In fact, there were 4 ski areas that just closed last weekend!  Almost the end of May!  Dillion Lake is seriously low, so hoping the run-off fills it up for the summer, as we did get quite a bit of snow this year.

Here's Maggie Pond in Breckinridge Colorado - it was a beautiful day around 55°.

It was a lovely day to take a drive, and didn't even miss anything in real estate!

Coming back on I-70 found LOTS of construction going on!  Googled it when I got home, and they are making a 3rd lane from Floyd Hill to the Tunnel, which will improve traffic at high-peak times.   Going past Georgetown, I was pleasantly surprised to see some bighorn sheep!    Have been by there a few times and haven't seen any for quite some time!
