2024 Carlsbad Art in the Village

Carlsbad art lovers will be pleased the 26th Annual Art in the Village Fair will be here soon, a few days after the 1st day of summer.

This popular fine art event will showcase around 130 local and regional artists, and takes place Sunday June 23rd.  The fair runs from 9 am until 5 pm and attendance is free. You’ll find Art in the Village along State Street and Grand Avenue in the heart of downtown.

Art in the Village is sponsored by the Carlsbad Village Association, and there will be new and returning artists. Artist selection is juried so you can expect high quality. All artwork is handcrafted and unique. Plus you can chat with the artists at their booths about their creations and what inspired them.

Carlsbad has a reputation for its 1-day art fairs (there are 4 major ones each year). Whether you are an art lover and collector or not, strolling the Village streets to enjoy beautiful art and live music on a summer Sunday is an enjoyable thing to do. It’s fun to browse even if nothing strikes your fancy or says “buy me!”

The 2024 Art in the Village will feature artwork from 130 local and regional artists. In addition, you’ll also enjoy interactive demonstrations (e.g., sculpting, pottery making), performance art, and live music.

Be sure to check out the Carlsbad Village Association Food, Wine and Beer Garden which is always popular.

The City of Carlsbad is hosting a Pop-Up Art booth for art enthusiasts of all ages to create their own masterpieces. Trained instructors will be available to assist as needed with your creations.

If the past art fairs are any indication there will be an impressive diversity of art work. You can expect contemporary and classical sculpture, ceramics and pottery, digital art, photography, jewelry, paintings (watercolors, oils, acrylics, and mixed media), wood creations, metalworks, glassworks, and more.

Be sure to bring your credit cards and/or cash so you can have fun if something grabs your attention!

Late June weather is usually pretty good and a great time to enjoy the outdoors and the beach. Carlsbad Village art fairs are crowded, so expect parking challenges in town. The good news is Carlsbad Village parking is free. But consider your travel time accordingly and you may need to walk a distance.

The Coaster commuter rail station is 1 block away if you prefer public transportation to avoid parking issues or are coming from a distance.

There will be a free bike valet service, too, for those who wish to ride their bikes and store them in a safe place while enjoying the art fair.

If you tire of exploring the art, there are plenty of retailers in the downtown area to visit. There are multiple dining options, wine bars and coffee shops in Carlsbad Village to enjoy. Plus the beautiful Carlsbad beaches are 2 blocks away for a stroll before or after the fair.

Thanks for stopping by Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400  It IS a lot of fun, although I suppose if art is not of interest it might not be enjoyable. Perhaps you will get to attend one at some point.

Hi Jeff, Larry and I attended the outdoor art festivals in Palm Beach County as often as we could. I love being out in the fresh air, with people, and all the art!!! Can't beat that.

Hi Kathy Streib They ARE fun to attend and especially being outdoors in nice weather. I always enjoy all the variety of art (but thankfully have the willpower to resist buying these days - we have too much already).

Jeff Dowler, CRS - I love to visit Art events. Those people who create art are so deserving of recognition and sales. I often find the most unusual pieces of art and they become keepers. Artists are so dedicated to their craft! Plus, I never met a pushy one but always someone friendly and willing to talk, if one gives them their ears.

Thank you Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP

We enjoy attending art events (and occasionally buying) as well. It can be a tough business as an artist and I suspect many struggle to make a decent living at it.  We've always enjoyed talking to artists to learn more about what inspires them and why they do what they do. We thoroughly enjoyed having our art gallery in MA for 3 years before moving here to SoCal.
