"Whatever you're doing, make it fun."
Having lived in Wenatchee for so long also allowed me to build trusted relationships with my peers and local vendors. I found that very beneficial when I needed to pull a few favors from the vault.
I agree with Nina! And you look way too young to be retired. Be like me - sort of semi-retired.

Hi Patricia Kennedy
I was even younger when I retired 13 years ago, at the age of 59. After my husband died, I was planning to take a year off to rest and take care of some health issues. I just never went back to work. 😊
Good morning Carol,
Well I love your motto and your post! "Whatever you're doing, make it fun," is the only way to go! I can see why you were so successful!

Thank you, Dorie Dillard Austin TX
I am blessed to be able to find fun and humor in most things. I've often said, if I can't have fun I'm not going to do it. 😊
Making the process fun and enjoyable is an important component to real estate transactions. Most of us know that buying and selling homes can be a real stressor.

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat
Buying and selling is serious business but there's no reason not to have fun in the process.
Hi Carol:
Your buyer and seller clients were certainly fortunate to have you guiding them through their purchases and sales, and making it fun and interesting at the same time despite whatever issues might have come up. You clearly loved what you did and did it well. Great entry for the May Challenge.

Thanks so much, Jeff Dowler, CRS
My little twists made it even more fun.
Carol all those qualities can be seen in you even after retirement without claiming them. Your actions speak louder than words.

Hey, Kathy Streib
Maybe after reading my post scheduled for tomorrow, you'll gather up your family and move to Wenatchee. I'll reactivate my license for that. 😊
Thank you for reminding this old dog of some of your methods back in the day...and almost all are still valuable to today's "rookies" and "old dogs"!

Hi Mike McCann Nebraska Land Broker
Oh, the changes we've seen in the industry, right? It was an interesting ride.
Carol Williams what a great post had to smile 13 years retired, lucky you:) I agree being seasoned and being a good negotiator are an absolute must in this challenging profession. Now with that said there are some challenging times ahead of us who are still in the profession. Endre

For sure, Endre Barath, Jr.
The industry is constantly changing and evolving on so many levels. It's amazing to see the changes that have taken place from the time I first got my license in the early 80's.

Thank you very much, Carol, for telling us about your successful real estate career.
Your sharing revealed what it takes to be successful in real estate as well as in life. Thank you for sharing and enjoy your day.
I appreciate your post, Carol, and can relate to almost everything you wrote, except the rookie part. I was a horrible real estate rookie! You don't know what you don't know. Fortunately, I survived that rocky start and now have 36 years of experience under my belt. Experience matters! And so does being knowledgeable and entertaining. Great post!

Hi Carol! LOVE all of your 'secrets' and agree wholeheartedly that levity is SO very important in our profession - heck, in LIFE! Clients appreciate that we can negotiate on their behalf and several RE coaches over the year have insisted that is our #1 attribute and if it's not, LEARN! For me, knowledge and attention to detail are just as critical.
Love the 'judge' story too! I am SO glad he wasn't wearing his robe too - that would have made me quite nervous too.
Thank you again for participating in this month's challenge, Carol!
You understood your value proposition, Carol Williams, and you delivered to your clients. That's why you were a successful agent.
The reality of being a professional in real estate is very well represented by the post.
As for the judge, his agent should have explained why the price was too high as well as youl did,
Hi, Carol.
I included your post in Last Week's Favorites on ActiveRain. So thank you for writing it!
Cheers,
Pat
Yes, you have won your case, Carol Williams. Some of the agents today are way too serious and give this business a bad name. We need to work together in harmony
I love "Making the process more fun" and "Expert negotiation skills." Buyers and sellers often are stressed, so ensuring a fun element is important. Negotiation skills are key, and those who do them well make it look effortless. I think negotiation skills are the most overlooked skill set buyers and sellers miss when selecting an agent. Those skills can save (or cost) them a lot of money and they never realize the cost to them.
Carol Williams - Three decades in the Real Estate Business must have filled up the old roller-desk file rapidly. I find the best people to do business with are those that do it well, professionally and have fun.
Do you miss being in the business?

Hi Patricia Feager, ABR,CRS,GRI,MRP
I don't miss the day-to-day grind of the business. What I do miss is the marketing part of the business.
