Central Florida real estate prices are skyrocketing—after all, the Orlando area is among the most sought-after relocation destinations in the country, if not the world.

A recent list from Money.com included our cities in Central Florida among the greatest places to live in the country.

According to Money, a number of factors were taken into account in order to identify the top 50 American cities, including economic opportunity, diversity, and the locations of people's best futures. According to the research, Atlanta is the best place to live because of its "booming jobs market and eye on equality."

There were three Florida cities, which have been included in the ranking:

9. Tampa

33. Altamonte Springs

43. Sarasota

Tampa

Tampa provides "a rare combination of affordable and action-packed," claims Tampa Money. At about $381,000., the city has one of the lowest median home sales on the list.

"The Ybor City neighborhood offers an abundance of nightlife. According to Money, Tampa's twenty- and thirty-something population also frequents establishments like Taco Bus, which began serving burritos off of a yellow school bus long before food trucks were hip, and Angry Chair Brewing, which serves its well-known stouts along with culinary favorites like pickle dip.

Quick facts about Tampa:

  • Population: 379,742
  • Median household income: $70,145
  • Unemployment rate: 2.7%
  • Median home price: $381,352

Altamonte Springs

Money's ranking placed Altamonte Springs, a Florida city approximately thirty minutes away from Disney World and an hour away from the ocean, as the second place.

When compared to the other locations on the list, Money said Altamonte Springs "doesn't feel overly busy" and has a "pretty average" cost of living.

"Central Florida doesn't charge a state income tax," Money stated.

One further advantage of Altamonte Springs is that, according to Money, the area has a high graduation rate of about 93%. According to the report, locals get a fair balance between leisure and education.

A Brief Overview of Altamonte Springs

  • Population: 44,383
  • Median household income: $62,762
  • Unemployment rate: 2.7%
  • Median home price: $210,105

Sarasota

A "paradise for beach, culture, and wildlife lovers" is how Money described Sarasota.

Sun worshippers can take advantage of the sandy sections on neighboring Longboat Key, where hundreds of sea turtles lay their eggs annually, and Siesta Key, which boasts a bustling social scene (have you ever watched that MTV reality show?). Fans of art will also not feel alienated. The Ringling Museum, established in Sarasota in the 1920s by circus owner John Ringling and his spouse, is a notable attraction. A large courtyard full of bronze cast statues, including a copy of Michelangelo's David, and artwork by artists like Peter Paul Rubens can be seen in the museum, which was designed to resemble the Uffizi in Florence, Italy, according to Money.

One drawback of Sarasota is the high cost of real estate. According to data from Money, the median price of a home sold in 2022 was more than $568,000.

According to Money, compared to Tampa, which is nearby, Sarasota's population is typically older and less varied.

Fast facts regarding Sarasota:

  • Population: 56,115
  • Median household income:  $64,142
  • Unemployment rate: 2.6%
  • Median home price: $368,733
