Sometimes it’s important to ask questions of yourself to learn more about what is important to you. In the same token it’s also important to ask questions of others to learn more about them and what makes them tick.

For the past two weeks I’ve asked some questions and loved the responses so let's try 3 new questions this week. Inquiring minds want to know your answers:

u What do you consider the most over rated virtue?

u Which historical figure do you most identify with?

u Where would you like to live?

Good morning Dorie. Still pondering the virtue and historical figure questions, but relocating from bustling and congested downtown Chicago to a very far western suburb where it is much quieter and less congested. And the best part is everything is convenient. Enjoy your day.

3.  Maine.  It is my fave place I ever been to, but family is in NJ.

Good Morning Dorie,

  • Patience is so overrated; going after opportunities quickly usually pays off more.
  • I don't really identify with any historical figure—I'm just being me, writing my own story.
  • I actually love where we live now—a cozy spot that's perfect for us with everything needed close by.

u What do you consider the most over rated virtue? Temperance

The seven capital virtues, also known as contrary or remedial virtues, are those opposite the seven deadly sins. They are often enumerated as chastity, temperance, charity, diligence, patience, kindness, and humility.

u Which historical figure do you most identify with? None

u Where would you like to live? Uncertain. For a quick answer, I would say Williamsburg, VA.

Dorie good questions.

Virtue - I looked at a list of 100 virtues and I don't think I would consider any of them overrated.

Historical figure -  I have not thought about that before, and I am not sure who that would be.

Where I would like to live - There are several places I would enjoy living, but I guess the area between Bristol, TN and Knoxville, TN would be one of the areas at the top of the list.

Hi Dorie:

I'll have to ponder these questions a bit more. Overall we are pretty happy with where we live now, especially with the grandkids and family not far away in LA. We miss New England alot, except for the winters and I think we could enjoy splitting our time on both coasts!

Good questions Dorie!

1. Kindness. I'd rather be a good person than taken advantage of because of kindness.

2. Ronald Reagan - Straightforward when necessary but soft hearted too.

3. Right where I am.

By no means was this a political statement about Reagan. He was an amazing person outside of politics.

#1 - Overrated virtue - Probably honesty because very few people are really honest.  A person with integrity is indeed a rate virtue.

#2 - Historical figure - Pondering that one, Margaret Thatcher comes to mind as does Golda Meir.

#3 - Where to live - Without a doubt here in NW Mohave County, Golden Valley, life continues to be incredibly good even with the bumps in the roads we have encountered.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX - good questions! My answers are below:

1. Temperance (Temperance- To live in moderation and not seek joy from material wealth). And Morally religous people who think they are better than all others regardless of your own faith and beliefs.

2. Jane Goodall.

3. Switzerland

Love this, Dorie! I was going to say I'm going to have to ponder on it and come back but, decided to go with what I felt in my heart when I read your post...

1. "Being a good person" is something that should come naturally - goodness should be in your heart and soul at all times. It should always be the 'easiest' approach to life.

2. I'm such an odd duck, I'm writing the book on that! In years past, I would have likely said Florence Nightingale but, now that I've been in this profession for 20 years, there are more facets to me now! LOL

3. I'm happy just where I am in Charlotte but, would love to retire on the coast if I can talk Ray into it!

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
  * This is a hard one because the very definition of virtue is high moral standards. However, I think maybe "giving" could be considered an overrated virtue because many people give to get something in return such as attention or some reciprocal expectation. That's all I can come up with.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?
 * I can't say I identify with Abe Lincoln but I've always found him fascinating and if asked who I'd like to spend a day with, it would be him.

Where would you like to live?
 * I like where I live and have the best of both worlds. I can get away in the winter when it's cold. I've traveled a lot and haven't found any place I'd rather live, all things considered. That's not to say I'll never move because life does evolve.
