I wrote this blog posting a few weeks back, in reaction to yet more unfavorable headlines out there. I stewed on it for awhile, and finally feel like I can put it out there.
I feel the times ahead really call for, and will be improved upon, with excellent communication. Transparency, authenticity, honesty - I like those words that end with Y.
So, here's my "ponderings" as I react to the news around us:

It’s an interesting thought. I was reading a rant by a national real estate coach regarding collusion. He mentioned he must have missed the invites to those meetings where all the agents got together to conspire on commission. He went on to say he’s never seen ANY agents working together to do anything at all…let along ALL. (oh my, HE was on a rant too!)
It is a point as all the USA homeowners are receiving post cards on how they’ve been ripped off by the real estate profession, and we’re left holding the bag on explaining our worth and value.
However, shouldn’t we have been doing that all along?
You know, a hamburger in Tucson costs anywhere from $7-$20, a taco is maybe $5, the gas stations all seem to be within pennies of each other, and it costs roughly the same for a haircut wherever you go outside of a designer studio. Are they all price-fixing?
As real estate agents, we must now speak up. Fight for our American right to earn a living. Our living wage on top of the liability, the due diligence, risk management, and the requirements of being a real estate agent on your behalf.
Many of us ascribe to the Code of Ethics, earning us the right to call ourselves REALTORS. Violations cost money, and we can lose our jobs.
I realize the lawyers are doing their “job” and the public should be protected. Better communication is something we all can always work towards. We can get caught up in jargon and paraphrasing and miss out on the bottom line…our clients sometimes need more explanation than our paraphrasing allows.
Top agents have spent years building their brand. The young whippersnappers (ha, my grandma’s word) are knocking on doors and using old school methods to get experience under their belts.
So, let’s work together. Let’s forget the headlines, forget the noise, and sit down and communicate. Transparency, authenticity, honesty - it's a two way street as well!
ChatGPT generates answers based on patterns and information learned from a vast dataset of books, articles, and other texts processed through a deep learning model known as GPT-4. It uses this training to predict and construct coherent responses without accessing real-time data or the internet.
For fun, I asked Chatgpt why real estate agents choose their vocation. Here’s what it said:
1. Passion for Real Estate and Helping Others: Many agents have a genuine interest in real estate, architecture, and home design. They enjoy helping people find their dream homes, sell their properties, and achieve their real estate goals.
It went on to say our careers provide a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
This isn’t just MY reason for choosing real estate as my path. Most of us as Real Estate Agents and REALTORS® find it a driving passion.
Better communication can help us all. Let’s meet, let’s talk. We’re "out" to work with you as you move towards your next real estate goal.
