June Blog # 2 of 30 on 6-2-24
Good Sunday Morning AR. Well...two things have happened this weekend.
I have actually written two blogs on 2 separate days and my hometown of St Paul NE has had the most rain ever in 125 years of recording rainfall. Almost a half years worth...and it it rained June 1 and this morning.
Central Nebraska only gets about 25 inches a year with the majority of that between April and August. So far in the last 35 days, St Paul has received over 12 inches of rain.
The positive is that pastures and high ground crops look great, ponds and lakes are full, and rivers/creeks/streams are getting cleared out by the rushing water.
The amount of water being absorbed by the Earth is helping to replenish the Aquifer.
The negative is that bridges, roads, fields are washing out and/or are being flooded and the repairs will be long and expensive. The crop damage will be in the millions. I have heard that many roads are closed due to washouts. The Fire rating however has dropped to almost ZERO!!
So how are the folks in central Nebraska taking this year of severe weather?
Umm...mostly with a shrug of the shoulders and getting to work cleaning up and repairing...as this is part of life...the last time in 2019.
Our client Properties listed For Sale have weathered the weather fairly well and as of yesterday no leaking basements. I am, however, hoping for a drier week although that may not be in the cards.
Will head up into the area tomorrow and see what is all happening.
Have a great day and feel free to send some sunshine to central Nebraska as at 11:55 am it is pretty gloomy here.
Until Next Time... Enjoy Each Day Like an Adventure to an Unknown Place...After you finished reading this...You will once again be in uncharted territory... Mike
