Speechless Sundays: What is this guy doing on our lemon tree?... clearly he put on some weight. Have not seen him in a while close up. All the orange trees are keeping him healthy and well.

Hot enough for ya?

A quick google search might provide the answer for the bark-chewing, at least.

Good morning, Endre... I see squirrels in the neighborhood, but never in my yard... I think they know Bingo is on squirrel watch.

Good morning Endre. The quick Google search by Alan May tells the story. The oranges are good and a "sap cocktail" finishes off a good meal. Enjoy your day.

I also did a quick internet search after I read this - I didn't realize squirrels ate or chewed on tree bark. I learned something new today and it's only 5:50am!

I saw a movie yesterday where the guy was afraid of squirrels, but a squirrel ended up saving the day, haha.

Haven't seen them eating the bark but I'm sure they do. They're too busy digging up our beautiful flowerpots to hide their acorns for winter snacks!

Hi Endre- I've seen juvenile squirrels around our house lately. I used to have a squirrel who waited for me on the fence when we pulled into the garage. I'm not sure what happened to him.

Too cute, Endre.  My yard has been inundated with all sorts of critters, including 2 kinds of squirrels this spring.  I currently have a pair of doves nesting under the corner of my patio roof.

Brian England  I always loved squirrels and my parents used to feed them in CT.... so it is a joy watching them eat our citrus fruits, hence I was so surprised that he was eating the bark, Endre

Hi Endre:

You clearly have the right combination of fruit trees to keep your squirrel (or is there more than 1?) happy and well fed.

Jeff Dowler, CRS  I suspect there are about three or four this one seemed to be very well fed hence I suspect one of the original ones and he put the word out to the others that this is a good place to eat:)Endre
