Photo Journaling in Flower Mound, Texas

If you love flowers, Flower Mound is a great city to consider. Perhaps you read the news that Texas had a lot of rain. Yes, it is true. More than any previous years that I know. But the fact remains, flowers, perenials, and annuals are putting on a show during this month of June!

Like any city, none are perfect, but the flower beds of mine in Flower Mound, Texas are survivors! There is some work that needs to be done, but what these flowers did on their own, is mighty impressive!

Last year I tried my hands at planting Lilies. All came back, except for one, the green lilies. We don't always get what we want, but what I got makes me happy! I think the sound of the pounding rain and hail pounded more intensly on my head than the flowers beneath the earth in my Flower Mound garden. Positive thoughts always!

Although the Yellow Rose of Texas did not make an appearance, the yellow lilies showed up and they are multiplying! Let there be peace.

To honor deceased members of my family, I planted one Calla Lily several years ago from from a grocery store potted plant. Its growth was questionable back then, so I planted it inside my garden. I must confess. With so much rain and hail, I wasn't expecting the Calla Lily to come back up. But it did! It looks like a big shrub and I see buds of new lilies too! I call the Calla Lily a peace lily. Yes! Let there be peace on earth!

This is another one year old lily in my Flower Mound Garden. If you like flowers and if you plant them, they will grow! Just plant them with your own hands and give plant peace a chance!!! You never know what you will get, unless you plant the seeds, the bulbs, or baby plants. Then, let it spread. Do you like something a little more exotic?

Here in my Flower Mound Garden is my show stopper! I took a chance with something exotic several years ago. I guess nobody wanted it, because it was sitting by itself in the corner with the other droopy plants. There are somethings in life, one cannot ignore! I bought it. The first year I got one flower. Last year it divided and multiplied on its own. This year it's bigger than ever and it is simply amazing!!! No amount of rain, hail, wind, or lightening could stop it from growing!!!

Be not afraid of the dark shadows or too much light. Plants don't mind. Neither do I. The first plant that bloomed this spring in 2024 in my Flower Mound Garden took more of a beating than the rest, but it is growing stronger every day. New buds are just waiting to burst forth and bloom! We never know what's on the horizon if we give up when there are adversities and life and/or climate changes.

Last year I experimented with Lobelia and put it inside a pot. It lasted through the spring of 2023. This year, it's nearly summer and it doesn't seem like it is ready to leave. Lobelia simply dazzles me! If you are thinking about moving to Texas, and you like flowers, including the name Flower Mound, TX, I would definitely love to hear from you! Flower Mound is a good place to plant your roots and grow.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 - It gives me peace and joy to work in my gardens. Each plant has a memory. As long as they continue to bloom, and welcome new additions that I plant, and as long as I don't whine about the work or what didn't show up, I shall remain grateful.

Hannah Williams - Happy to hear things are blooming in Philadelphia! Sorry to hear about your allergies. I wish the experts knew more on allergy prevention. So many people suffer with allergies. Although, I have been blessed not to have allergies, I suffered with my children who both had asthma.

Happy Weekend! May the air quality improve for your sake.

Wow, your garden is beautiful. And isn't nature amazing? I would think hail would have done significant damage to all of those flowers. My favorite photos are the Calla Lilly and the Lobelia. Beautiful!

As. you can imagine, with all those recent storms, I worried most about my flowers. Mother Nature is very good!

What beautiful flowers! So wonderful that you can grow and enjoy these.  We have to pick our flowers based on whether or not the deer will eat them!

Lynnea Miller - I do love deer, but I could see how that would be a problem. To compete with the locals (deer) must be very challenging!
