The Must Dos and Should Dos Ongoing Daily Dilemmas

By
Real Estate Agent with Dirt Road Real Estate SA676002000

Earlier this week, the temperatures cooled, and I took care of a should do that turned into a must do. I need to have my truck washed and before I could take that action I had to sweep off the all the dust on the truck’s bed and then wash down the bed (The now must do.)

Even though the bed of the truck is covered with a "tonneau," dust seeps into every creak and crevice especially living and driving on dirt roads almost every day.  Later in that day, I drove the truck to the car wash. NOTE: We are on water haul and it pays to have the vehicle washed off site.

As I was undertaking this chore, once again I realized the ongoing dilemmas of Must Do and Should Do.  The last two weeks have been very busy and my goal of writing articles for Active Rain has taken a back seat to the other must do actions of taking photos, doing listing research, saving a significant residential purchase contract in escrow to ensure a successful close of escrow and then handling incoming listing and buying calls.

Keeping up with all the changes in real estate specific to the MLS required an entire day last week in class with the local MLS has turned into a new must do. This event was well attended and the MLS delivered an outstanding day long learning experience.

Then another Must Do is increasing my knowledge because change is inevitable. I have 3 hour continuing education class this week to review the AZ Association of REALTORS™ (AAR) vacant land contract with an exceptional and professional real estate agent. Finding real estate agents with extensive vacant land experience is not the norm as vacant land is the red hair stepchild in real estate. I am truly looking forward to this class.

Add into all of these MUST Dos are scheduling 4 separate drone photographs, writing up all the listing information for the MLS, updating some CMAs for future listings that will be happening toward the end of the month; updating Dirt Road Real Estate's CRM and adding a new program into my phone so I can construct a floor plan.  No wonder I believe that selling vacant land, selling dirt is usually so much easier.

What most real estate agents know and many consumers do not know is all the behind the curtains work local professional real estate agents undertake on a daily basis. As I wake up around 4:30am each day thanks to our two dogs, I am able to complete many should dos early in the morning hours.  Then by 3pm, my day is usually over except for answering calls.

Being flexible and adaptable works hand in hand with Must Dos and Should Dos. And re-prioritizing is what makes a real estate agent a true professional real estate agent.

Hello Leanne - the requirements and electives of everyday life as well as real estate can become complicated.   Time is limited in many sorts of ways.  Overlappping schedules and multiple priorities further complicate things.  Shoulda - woulda - coulda   oh, my!

Leanne- even though I'm retired, I still have my daily do's that I need and want to do. However, there are always appointments and other interruptions that I need to make adjustments for.

I planned on washing my car by myself and by hand, but that proved to be more work than I wanted to put in, haha.  I love my carwash pass!
