Is It Going To Hurt?

Sometimes when we see something flying at us we wonder... is that a Kamikaze?

Obviously I am talking about an insect coming at us and not a WW Zero (although some bees seem just as scary).

One positive about North Dakota summers is the insects rarely have time to grow to the size of a VW Bus. Not to say that there is not a few large insects that would make the Terminator scream and run like a little school girl.

No matter where you live it's a good idea to know some basics of avoiding and treating insect bites.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Good morning Bob. I am the assigned terminator in my house, like Michael Elliott on call day and night. And upon request "now" is already "too late"! Enjoy your day.

We are very lucky that we rarely have problems with bugs - except for once every 5 or 6 years the yellow jackets proliferate for some reason. But the rest of the time, we can sit outside for dinner and not get bothered by bugs at all.

Kat Palmiotti it seems I have to eliminate at least one wasps nest every year. I don't know if it's Timmothy's blond hair but wasps seem very attracted to him and he is terrified by them. I can't count how many times they have stung him.

Good Morning Bob "RealMan" Timm

The tiniest of bugs, the deer tick, can be a real danger to one's life. The video is a good informational piece. Bugs are hostile...lol

I don't worry about flys, although they can be annoying at times, haha.  If a bee were flying towards me, I would worry a little, haha.

Me too Brian England . It's spiders that give me "the willies" and thank god he didn't make flying spiders.

Hello Bob, I do not know how my sister can put up with all the insects in Florida but she does.

Florida would not work for me either Will Hamm . I don't want bugs to die of old age, I want them to die annually and be gone altogether for 6 months of the year.

Nice little video, Bob. I keep windows and doors closed in the heat, so really don't see bugs in the house. Our outside is professionally sprayed every three months.

It sounds like you have a great plan Nina Hollander, Broker . I lay down a bug barrier in the early spring, mid summer and in the fall with some kind of spray and/or granules around my home but that doesn't mean some flying insects don't get by.

Bob "RealMan" Timm I know some little fly or something has gotten into the house when my cat starts running around like mad trying to catch it.

This is a timely reminder. We need to use a repellent during outdoor activities.
