Blog 23 of 30 - Sunday Relaxing - & Recomposing Myself! Deep Breaths!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Mike McCann - Broker, Mach1 Realty Farm & Commercial Land Broker-Auctioneer Serving Nebraska

It is day 23 of my 30 day Blog Series and I just came in the house from working on my daughters table in the garage to regain my composure.

Yes , you read that right...even old positive Mike can get frustrated and this morning was one of them.

It started well as we had a great breakfast of eggs, bacon, and pancakes and then off to the garage I went to work on mulitple projects.

It quickly went sideways as both projects went wrong in a hurry!

I am having trouble making the new drawers work the way I want and have torn the table top off so I can get better access to the innards of the table.

For some reason...after taking 1/4 inch of one piece...it is tighter now than it was before.  In theory that seems to be impossible as the hole is bigger, right?

I must have put the bottom guide back in wrong and thus the setback.

So I will enjoy the a/c for a while and go back out this evening when it cools down...it was 91 in the garage when I came in.

A beautiful day to be at the lake or river...but not to be in garage without A/C.

On another subject, my favorite Frigidaire refrigerator that we bought 35 years ago and that has been a great garage fridge since 1999 is possibly on its last leg as I noticed last night things were not at the right temp and after cleaning coils, etc, it appears to only want to cool to 35 in the freezer section and 48 in the fridge section.

Looks like we will be buying a new fridge for the kitchen very soon.

The fridge in the house has been a great one and I love it...but it is also showing a lot of age and wear and tear so I suspect a new stove and fridge are in our very near future!! Robyn has been hinting about a new stove as well as the current one is 23+ years old.

And the current garage fridge will find its way to the appliance recyclers.

If Anyone has had great success in the last few years with a roughly 30+ cu ft side by side fridge with water let me know the brand/model.  It seems a lot of the new ones have issues and I hope to have this next fridge for another 20 years!!

And no new updates on Mama Robin or babies as  have not seen them yet today.

Until Next time...Keep those items that need to be cold...Cold!  Mike

On a positive note, the breakfast looked delicious, especially the pancakes!

I;m sorry Mike...I can't focus because I'm drooling over your breakfast. Larry has two fans in the garage when he's working but hot air is still hot air even if you're moving it with fans.

We have a Samsung fridge and I will never have another one.

I recognize the drawer issue as I had to change the drawer slide hardware on one and had a time trying to get the glide smoothly. Patience and opening a second drawer helped.

Good Evening Mike McCann Nebraska Land Broker

I still have a 1940s refrigerator in the garage. It still works. By the way, that breakfast looks perfect. Hope your projects turn out the way you want them to.

I would have to go without the pancakes but I would certainly want a double serving of the bacon and eggs, haha.

Hello Mike - I admire your handy skills.  As for major appliances today, they often don't seem to compare to those we fondly remember from the past.  Fortunately, your blogging self-challenge is coming along quite well - keep up the good regimen but remember to stay cool as possible.

Hi Mike... I doubt you'll ever again buy an appliance with a 20+ year life span. That being said, when my GE Profile died after 15 years, it was during the pandemic so choices were limited due to supply chain issues. I bought a Bosch French-door fridge and have been very happy with it.

Thank you all for the comments and to Kathy Streib  and Nina Hollander, Broker for your refrigerator experiences. I have had a couple people tell me to stay away from Samsung, and I have been watching reviews that are not the greatest as well. Have a great Monday.

Mike McCann Nebraska Land Broker hi Mike... I read that stuff about Samsung, as well. And all I can say is three years down the road, all is good.

We have encountered appliance problems with our three year old refrigerator and eight year old dishwasher of late.

The repairmen in both cases admitted to me that the manufactures "don't make them like they used to".
