To ensure proper drainage and to reduce the risk of flooding during a storm, consider cleaning your storm drain before the rain. Hurricane season is here and no matter how prepared you think you are there is always some last minute preparation that we forgot.

This year consider adding storm drain cleaning to the list of things to do before the storm.

During a storm a drain can struggle to keep up with a flooding rain. Making sure that the drain is free of leaves. sticks grass clipping and other debris will ensure that the storm drain works efficiently as designed.

If the drain empties into a retention pond or low area, be sure to clean the drain pipe outlet too. Often grass and weeds grow and clog the outlet.

Patrol the are for loose debris or items that will wash into the drain and potentially clog the drain during a heavy rain.

Maintaining proper drainage before a storm will keep water diverted away from your property, reducing the risk of flood damage.

While cleaning a storm drain you may find the the build up in the drain pipe requires professional  assistance. A local plumber with a jetter can clean and wash the debris from the pipe to restore proper flow.

Safeguard your property this hurricane season with clean flowing storm drains.
