Loving The Lakes State Parks

Lake of the Ozarks has two great state parks in the area.  Lake of the Ozarks State Park is the largest of the two, and the largest in the state.  It's over 17,000 acres of pure beauty.  You'll find it a great place for boating, fishing, swimming, camping, horseback riding, biking, hiking, relaxing, and much more.  You can also learn about the Ozarks under ground and above ground environment.  The area contains spectacular features that are typical to the Ozark region such as cave formations and heavily wooded areas.

The hills and ridges of Lake of the Ozarks State Park are covered with thick forests of oak hickory and a few sunny glades.  Many other areas are covered by savannah trees and the ground is covered with assorted grasses and colorful flowers.

The Ha Ha Tonka State Park is another wonderful state park in Lake of the Ozarks .  You will find dark caves, castle ruins, cliffs, a natural bridge, sinkholes, soaring bluffs, back-country hiking trails, the twelfth largest spring in the state, and much more for great adventures.  This state park is truly a geological wonderland.

The ruins of this turn-of-the-century stone castle are very popular among visitors.  It was built by a wealthy businessman and sits atop a 250-foot bluff overlooking the Ha Ha Tonka Spring.  This state park is scattered with oak tress, wildflowers and prairie grasses which makes it perfect for hiking to explore the natural preserved landscape.

You will find nature at its best at both state parks.  We have enjoyed visiting them over the years.  Don't forget to bring your camera.  There is so much natural beauty to enjoy.  You will definitely want some keepsake photos.

Come enjoy Lake of the Ozarks with Sharon and Christ Fanning
