Ask An Ambassador: Venn Will You Learn?

It's a good week so far!

Thanks for the 'tude feature!  And true, most people trying to swim against the current of playing nice in the Rain sandbox do tend to fade away, and most in a short time.

It's a term that has been used since I started here many moons ago.  I lurked for about 6 months before I made my first comment.  My views vs. click stats bear out many more people visit, but don't comment.  I still often read a post, but don't leave a comment.  It's definitely a normal thing.

I can't resist the occasional pun :)

For some, it doesn't matter which end you get, it all looks/acts the same :)

I think more so with other social media than here in the Rain.

Finding a niche was key for our local market.  Compete with 6000 other agents or find something that sets us apart?

Venn people are watching, we must be aware that direct interactions aren't all that are deciding who gets a referral.  Some people we always know are there, others even after all these years I may have never directly crossed paths.

Bill Liz and Bill Spear - I believe Sgt Schulz from the Hogan's Heroes television series used his "I know nothing" approach in similar ways.  I realize comparing real estate and other interactions to gestapo techniques can complicate situations.  

Michael Jacobs , funny thing, I ALMOST dropped a Sgt. Schulz reference in my comment.  And I think Sgt. Schulz was Wehrmacht or Luftwaffe. And digging down the bunny hole, turns out the actors who played Sgt. Schulz and Col. Klink were both Jewish (or at least that's what the Internet/AI tells me).

There's a comedian/engineer who uses Venn diagrams in his routine.  Cracks me up :)

Back in the day Bob had to show more than one person the exit door for not playing well in the ActiveRain sandbox.

Patricia Feager, ABR,CRS,GRI,MRP , it's a long time ago, but I think I had some Euclidean geometry in high school.  When I was looking up some info on Venn diagrams I saw the symbols for unions and such that I used to know more about.

No doubt we could use a stronger dose of logic in much that we do as citizens and professionals.  Chaos seems to be the preferred currency.

Fortunately not too many people here that I have to avoid, but there are some.  Not every personality meshes, not everyone likes to have logic applied to a situation, so I pick my spots.

Liz and Bill Spear - Sadly, logic has been replaced with opinions. Unfortunately, some who have opinions think they are right and others are wrong.  

The Venn diagram you illustrated is very clear for me to understand both visually and mentally. Although I didn't know what it was called, I changed my way of thinking a lot during covid lock-down days. I can now imagine a Venn diagram such as the one you created with three circles. At the top was the Scientist, Fauci in lab coat, ways in which he preached about how it started with bats in China, other scientists who supported his findings, factual, false, and/or misleading evidence, ways we had to behave to prevent the virus using masks and practicing social distancing. Another circle with politicians. At the top our President, no medical or scientific training but finding other ways to combat the virus, cronies who supported him, attacks on both sides of who is right and who was wrong. And of course there was the third circle of People, the followers, believers, and the Consciencious objectors who didn't get vaccines, did not stay under lock and key but moved about and found ways to survive in business. 

Whether I'm on the right track of thinking or not, the Venn Diagram is worth contemplating! 

Patricia Feager, ABR,CRS,GRI,MRP , I'm not sure we'll ever know for sure what the true facts are from that whole situation, with True Believers from multiple viewpoints with thoughts that don't align.

If nothing else, it proved my engineering job didn't have to be performed in the main office building from a cube.

Bees are doing well.  The hives we requeened seem to have plenty of brood.  We're in the middle of another mite treatment, about halfway through our 12 hives, will try to finish up over the long weekend as weather permits.

Some will never have their opinions changed, so best use of time is moving on.

In this business NEXT is an essential element.

Mike, one of the key criteria IMO is understanding whether a post is consumer facing or Rain facing.  If it's consumer facing, it's not really the place to undercut the author.  Real estate is VERY local, so unless I'm in your market or you in mine, we're not going to know the differences in how we all accomplish the common tasks of selling homes and land.  I'd like to gain business, not lose it.
