Social Security Cards On Top Of $100 Bill

Where have I been, under a heap of real estate paperwork? I had not heard this very important news about the Social Security Spousal Benefit rule expiring. Have you??

According to this article on the gobanking.com website, the Social Security Spousal Benefit rule is expiring THIS year for everyone except those who turned 70 on Jan. 1, 2024! For decades the rule has been that they always pay the higher of the individual’s benefits or spousal benefits to the lower earner. Well, NO LONGER!

If you or someone you know were planning a retirement around this benefit, they may need to buy real estate investment property instead :) Just sayin'

Oh wow, this is really important for people to know. I'm over 70 and it's not a concern for me as my benefits are much higher than my husband's, as he spent a lot of his professional life overseas and wasn't an American. But as he is over 80 if I pass first sounds like he can take advantage of my benefits.
