2024 California Capital Airshow This Weekend

About an hour ago, when I went out to pour water on my garden during this hot 100 degree day, I heard the amazing sound created by the world famous USAF Thunderbirds, who were working their magic while practicing, in the blue skies above. It prompted me to look up.

For those interested in aviation marvels, this weekend kicks off the California Capital Air at nearby Mather Air Field in Rancho Cordova. It is a crowd pleaser to residents in the Greater Sacramento Region.

This year the airshow will feature ITALY'S FRECCE TRICOLORI & USAF THUNDERBIRDS

 The California Capital Airshow will run Saturday and Sunday, July 13th and 14th.


Performances 3:30 PM – 9:30 PM

I'm so glad you looked up to see the USAF Thunderbirds working their magic. They are a sight to behold and I saw them many times when my ex was a Navy jet pilot....of course we saw a lot of the Blue Angels but they were both spectacular to watch!

Hi Myrl- I love airshows...whether they're the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels. Larry was an F-4 pilot in the AF so he was partial to them. There is quite a performance on the Tarmac when they march to their planes.

George Souto - There is a spot outside of the actual airbase that I enjoy watching the airshow from.  I remember one summer day, when I rested on a hammock in my backyard, and enjoyed the fly overs.

Carol Williams - I'm often amazed at the maneuvers they make in the sky.  

Dorie Dillard Austin TX - I was once given the pleasure of being a guest on the aircraft carrier, USS Kittyhawk, as it made way from Seattle to San Diego, a 4 day journey.  I was amazed at the maneuvers of landing planes on the carrier.USS Kittyhawk

John Pusa - Yes, they really are.  The only downside is the sound drives one of my cats crazy.  We just had the 4th of July, and I had been working to calm her down from all the fireworks, and now she's disturbed by the airshow.  But, we'll get through it.

Kathy Streib - I can imagine the performance of marching to their planes, is amazing.

Hmm, I don't think that I have ever been to an airshow, but I really enjoyed watching Top Gun and a documentary on the Blue Angels, haha.

Endre Barath, Jr. - They are practicing overhead as I sit here writing this comment this evening.  The neighbors and I love them.  My cat, Camilla, hates them!

Michael Jacobs - We hit 114 degrees today.  It is supposed to be cooler tomorrow.  

Roy Kelley - I'm looking forward to a cooler weekend, where it is easier to get out and enjoy these kinds of events.  The California State Fair is also going on in Sacramento.

Nina Hollander, Broker - I have never actually bought a ticket and sat in the stands.  I know of several great vantage points however.

Brian England - When my son was in the Navy, he was stationed on the USS Kittyhawk.  I was provided a guest trip of 4 days aboard as the Kittyhawk traveled from Seattle to San Diego.  The airshow, of merely watching the planes use a tail hook to land on the ship was amazing.
