Budget Friendly Towns for Retirees - #4 Crisfield
The WorldAtlas once again inspired me to write about 7 Budget-Friendly towns in Maryland for retirees. So, here is the fourth in the series, the fourth town is Crisfield.
Crisfield is a city located in Somerset County, Maryland. In 2020, the population of Crisfield was recorded as 2,515, and it has the distinction of being the southernmost incorporated city in Maryland. Crisfield is known as the seafood capital of the world and is a major gateway to Smith Island and Tangier Island.
Crisfield is a great place for active retirees to enjoy beachside living and sailing adventures without burning through their savings on housing costs. But, the entertainment doesn't stop with the outdoor activities, Crisfield also boasts a robust Arts and Entertainment District.
The median home price in Crisfield is $185,000.
Over the past six months 75% of the homes sold have been detached homes, 5% are townhomes and 20% have been condominiums. With prices like these, Crisfield certainly is an affordable community.
# | Low | High | Average | Median | |
Active | 36 | 31,000 | 775,000 | 277,622 | 287,000 |
Pending | 11 | 30,000 | 485,000 | 200,750 | 183,750 |
Closed | 35 | 10,000 | 577,500 | 161,644 | 115,000 |
The TidalHealth McCready Pavilion provides healthcare for the area in and around Crisfield. Health care has, to me, been the key missing component in the previous three towns.
Are you thinking about buying or selling a home in Crisfield? Let's have a conversation and don't make a move without me.
