I’ve been practicing my listening skills as we sit in one class after another about the changes in the industry that will be implemented soon. It’s caused me to do some soul searching and asking some tough questions. I just renewed my Real Estate License for 2 more years.
With the rise interest rates many sellers do not want to make a move to smart size if they don’t have to. Some sellers coming on market feel they are going to do it as cheaply as they can by paying low compensations and listing at a high price. I passed on these listings in my community and now would love to say “How has that been working for you?” One pulled his home off the market after 96 days and one on my street just made their 5th price reduction this week.
I recently came across this Anne Sexton's quote, “Put your ear down close to your soul and listen hard.” I felt it suggested a deep introspection and connection with one's inner self. It emphasized the importance of tuning into one's true feelings, desires, and inner voice, which can often be drowned out by external noise and distractions. By "listening hard," Sexton implies that understanding oneself requires effort, focus, and a quieting of the mind to truly hear and understand what your soul is communicating. It's a call to be more self-aware and in touch with your authentic self.
I felt empowered after doing a deep dive in understanding self-awareness in my role as a Real Estate Professional. I’ve made the decision not to work with people who don’t see or appreciate my Value Proposition. I’ve sat on the sidelines and watched. Sellers who needed to sell are getting frustrated and I’ve started receiving calls. I’m listening hard to the conversations and will be making decisions based on whether they truly understand why their homes haven’t been selling. By staying true to my principles and valuing my expertise, I can better serve those who genuinely seek my help.
