Yankee Homecoming started this weekend and runs from July 27 to August 4th.

What's Yankee Home Coming? Here's a brief description from the website.

"In 1958, Newburyport joined twenty-nine other New England communities in holding a celebration that would bring people together. Since then, the Yankee Homecoming committee has carried on this tradition for families, visitors, and volunteers to enjoy and is the only community that has continuously held this yearly festival since the beginning."

There are antique auto shows, High School battle of the bands, food drives, water-front concerts, Corn Hole tournament, a pet show, craft fairs, a morning workout program, the Yankee Home Coming parade, AND the annual Yankee Home Coming Veterans Luncheon.

You would have a ball. There's something for everyone. You'd never believe that in 1973 Newburyport was an economically starved community. Hindsight being what it is, I wish I had had the foresight to invest in that community. Once the commuter train pushed it's way to Newburyport the tide changed for that community.

Yankee Homecoming has been around for 66 years now. The Veterans Luncheon began many years ago, There must have been 150 - 200 veterans and guest there. Good food too...lol
