If you’re reading this right now, you probably have experience as a volunteer for the Rotary Youth Exchange program or have witnessed a volunteer working hard to facilitate successful exchanges. However, many people in the Rotary world are less familiar with the program's volunteering needs other than serving as a host family for exchange students.

The story linked below is a guide to most of the opportunities to serve exchange students, their parents, and the thousands of Rotary members worldwide who support this great program. Send the link to your friends, family, and others curious about Rotary Youth Exchange.

If none of the above roles fits your time and talents, consider helping spread the word about the program. “There are so many things to be done,” says Sabrina Barreto. “There are relationships to build with clubs, families, and other districts. You don’t necessarily need to be involved with teenagers. There is a role for everyone.”

No matter the role, the work is fulfilling.

“I’ve had no better feeling than to see the kids I have trained on the other side of the world accomplishing great things,” she says. “Just speaking about it gives me goosebumps. It makes me so proud of them.”

This story originally appeared in the June 2024 issue of Rotary magazine.

Rotary was started by four business people who wanted to help the city of Chicago. It has morphed into a worldwide philanthropic organization, topped by no one or no other organization. Google any city, add Rotary to the search, and see for yourself. Then check out any charity on Charity Navigator and see the money spent helping others compared to their leadership salaries. Oh, my. Unless you are filthy rich and can throw money away, haha, this alone will have you giving to Rotary and nowhere else. If you are the average Joe or Sue and want to help people with minimal resources, check out Rotary. Whether it is your time or money, you will love Rotary—Cantonment Rotary: New Year Full of Opportunities.
