Only Practice On The Days You Wish To Win
Doug makes a great point about training camp and do we need a training camp?
Only Practice On The Days You Wish To Win
As August lumbers along its hot path, NFL teams are busy with training camp. Why the heck does a professional football player need training camp? Many of them have been playing the sport since they were walking. Did Joe Burrow (best quarterback in NFL history) suddenly forget how to throw a football?
If a rockstar quarterback invests his summer on the practice field and film room, why not real estate agents? Let's look at some areas agents can/should invest time in training and practice...
1) Learning what to say and how to say it-- Yes, every client is as unique as a snowflake but the situations they find themselves in are similar. Learn the dialog for dealing with a for sale by owner, expired, and members of your database. But Doug, I just like to "wing it". Does your doctor "wing it" when you so up to her office coughing?
2) Identify, develop responses, then practice replies to common objections--"We want to sell ourselves, that fee is too much, we have a friend/family in the business" The market fluctuates, human nature is constant. Why not write down simply responses to the common questions, then practice thirty minutes a day?
3)With Blogging/Social Media/Internet Marketing-- JUST DO IT, THEN GET BETTER. People are more hard on themselves than necessary. We want stuff to be PERFECT before doing anything. While you took three days to write the perfect post, your competition wrote four posts and picked up a seller. Invest time each morning reading other blogs. This will give you a sense of what works on the platform.
Who Should I practice/Role Play with? Have individuals on your rotation who are 1)better than you 2)about the same level and 3) those just starting out. You learn something different from each group.
My advice (based on what I learned mostly from The Mike Ferry Organization), is to invest 30-45 minutes each working day getting better. If Joe Burrow can spend ten hours on the practice field, can't you spend 30 minutes improving your craft? Make it a Great Day!
