Addressing Negativity in The Rain - ActiveRain that Is

I've gotten a lot of complaints about these rude comments and many of them include the word, 'bully.' This is SO not how AR's founders meant for the members of this platform to behave. 

Differences of opinion are welcomed here; bullying is NOT! 

You're so right - AI is the future and there are some folks who are going to be working their fingers to the bones trying to catch up with the rest of us. I feel like I was a late-adapter and already feel behind, John Pusa!! 

I agree, Debe Maxwell, CRS  bullying is not appropriate in ActiveRain community.

Making comments just to be cantankerous is such a waste of everyone's time, isn't it, Laura Cerrano?! I'd rather find solutions - and the solution for this would be - just move along if they have nothing nice to say! LOL

It's amazing how adults can behave so much like children when given a keyboard, isn't it, Buzz Mackintosh! I'm all about folks having diverse opinions but, the bullying is really unnecessary. 

Brian England - while I haven't known you for a lifetime, I have become acquainted with you over our AR membership and away from it.  But, as I have previously said, some things don't seem to be on your radar screen.  And that's okay and that's Brian as Brain (if only in his mind).  HaHa.  🧠💩🧠

I appreciate that you still like me Michael Jacobs even when things that should be on my radar are not, haha.  Also, it's perfectly fine for you to refer to me as 💩 when it is warranted, rather than 🧠, Candice A. Donofrio isn't afraid to do so and I love her for it, haha.

Hey, if you are saying that I rode the short bus to school when I was a kid Michael Jacobs, I will have you know that was not the case, haha.  Shall we begin to make arrangements for lunch in October or is it too early to get something solid on the calendar?

Brian England - we obviously need to address continuing education the next time we meet.  I remember you discussed a Fall trip the last time we met.   Is CA on the agenda for October? 

Of course, no disrespect to your multiple degrees - I know you show signs of intelligence or at least some indications of being a smart @$$ (which I can identify because I am also a charter member). 

I also understand Mr Musk is expanding his fleet of vehicles.  Could buses, short and in other sizes, be among the options?  HaHa.  

Yes, I will be in Oceanside October 13-20, you can have first dibs on which day that week works best for you for lunch.  I have always said that I would rather be called a smart @$$ than a dumb @$$, haha.  Hmm, I haven't heard anything about a bus from Mr. Musk, but there have been some rumblings about a van Michael Jacobs

Thanks for the heads up for your SoCal getaway in October.  It can be difficult to keep up with your travel schedule.  Good for you.

Sadly, you're right, Greg Large! Those who need to read this are not likely members that I follow (or no longer follow), nor do they follow me. I applaud you for making the retorts that you do to those who make unnecessary negative comments.

As for your last paragraph - you've described exactly how I feel - you're just far more succinct than I!! 

Thanks for the affirmation of my thoughts on your post Debe Maxwell, CRS.  The encouraging part is to know that not only the negative or nasty is noticed but the encouraging kind comments are noted and appreciated as well.

LOVE the parchment and quill pen comment, Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543! I'm with you on being a lifelong learner. I think that's why we've all kept up with those Zoom calls and are here as well. It's all about staying up with what is happening in our fields, even if we are not fond of it! I akin it to Twitter; I didn't like it but, learned it for future use if/when we need it!

I love your approach, Peter Mohylsky, Beach Broker! And, I'm with you - different opinions/personalities are what makes the world go 'round. One (or two) don't have to bully others into agreeing with their opinions.

And, you've never hurt feelings with your comments here in the Rain - at least no one has ever complained to me that you have! LOL

Hi Aura Alex! One, in particular, has been 'seen' by the masses as a bully and those hurtful jabs are, not only what the blog writer is seeing but, the masses are seeing them. Narcissistic is a great term for them - and unfollowing them is what many are doing. I'm also hearing from some that they are 'keeping their enemies closer.'

Insecure narcissists mask their self-doubt with boastful behavior, convinced that they alone possess superior qualities while dismissing others as foolish.

Funny but, I haven't wrapped my head around that one either, Aura Alex. Focusing elsewhere seems to work well for me. 

Well, it is well known that this person enjoys vino ActiveRain Member Support, haha.

Late evening time stamps on a less than kind comment might be a good indicator that grapes are involved.

Many of us enjoy a little too much vino at times! LOL The difference in narcissistic folks and others though, is that most do regret it and make amends in the morning, Michael J. Perry!!

You know I agree with you 100%. I believe your rational suggestion quite possibly goes against their grain! Like you, if I don't agree, most of the time, I move on. Otherwise, I 'respectfully disagree' but, in a nice way. It just makes no sense to be a bully, Carol Williams! I'm sorry you've been a victim of this too. How anyone can be rude to you is beyond me!

Hi Anna "Banana" Kruchten! Yes, it was a sh*t show and numerous people got their feelings hurt either by rude, condescending remarks or by outright lies about AI! Those comments were certainly not made by anyone who had ever heard what Grandmother Anna or my MawMaws said about moving on!

During the Zoom call on Tuesday, someone had printed all of those links out and read every one of them, word-for-word. Not a single line applied to how AR members are utilizing AI. 

It's sad to be so short-sighted, one doesn't even realize that if they have a smartphone, AI is running behind the scenes!

Thank you, Kat Palmiotti! It's really gotten out of hand. I'm totally disappointed in those making remarks that are so incredibly rude and dripping with condescending. I just wish they would take a pause and do a little self-reflection!
