An often-misquoted cliche makes the rounds. "Money is the root of all evil" NO! It should read; The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. When I first heard the wrong version decades ago, in my ignorant youth, I simply said that is ridiculous & went about making money/living. When I heard the correct version, I paused to examine it & what it had to do with me. Do I love money?
YOUR MONEY or YOUR LIFE
I have met people, who are so focused to the point of tunnel vision & insensitivity in the pursuit of "getting ahead" or obtaining the almighty buck. You may say there is nothing wrong with being ambitious & I agree. But to the exclusion of everything else? All life is given a back seat in the pursuit of wealth. What do I mean by this?
THE END JUSTIFIES the MEANS
A desired result is so important that any means necessary to achieve it, morals, ethics, & all the rest be damned until I have what I want is what this means. People are considered to be in the way or as steppingstones to the end game.
NARROW FOCUS + TUNNEL VISION + ANYTHING GOES =WEALTH at all costs
I have seen this dynamic in motion on human beings in business & personal worlds & it is not pretty except to the practitioner. Everyone else is collateral damage with anything goes a close second. The love of money AND nothing else is driving this. What's driving it all is fear. FEAR is an intruder dynamic.
WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?
Everyone who gets the addiction or warped, toxic belief that the purpose of their journey or existence (life) is to become wealthy & all that comes with it is/has being tricked. Pleasures, all want & needs met, haughty independence, dominance & power addictions. Take for instance the following categories or versions of this approach to subject.
1. Once I get it, I will change. This lie makes the rounds successfully. Why? It ignores the Universal law of: Whatever you get into, gets into you. In this case, instead of being made more into the image God as intended, you get a substitute identity & it is not pretty either. That deceptive identity attracts its like kind too
2. This may never come around again. I'm going for it no matter what! What happens here is laws are broken; people are trampled on & mankind alienates itself from you. Why? There is nothing lovable about aggressively being/doing this
3. Drug dealers in the pursuit of "money" believe that if others want to throw their life away getting high, that's their problem not mine. Furthermore, they are one step away from committing atrocious acts to support the end game
4. Millionaires (some), who went about it the "wrong way" are not happy, friendly or loving people. They gave up their humanity in the pursuit of money at all costs.
5. When the lying goal is obtained, the guilt is so powerful that they must hide it, or continue on but at all times, are not themselves. Family, friends & business associates see them for what they are & judge them for it right or wrong
6. Rationalization is required in substantial doses thus giving birth to their personal story they are ready to tell (or not) on how it is all allowed & acceptable behavior for them to do what they do & why.
LET'S BE CLEAR AT THIS POINT
There is nothing wrong with wealth. It is not what one has but how they came to have it. You can become wealthy with a well-chosen career, starting a business, home equity, savings & reduced expenses with consistent income. After all, this is America where all this takes place. This is proven & beyond dispute. Have it then
WE ALL HAVE VISITED WITH THIS
Trying to cut someone's share, taking more than our share, neglecting the win-win principals, taking advantage, being an aggressive opportunist, manipulating, calculating, & emphasis on ME FIRST but a radical version that appears right to us
WORTHY-TIMELY-REMINDER
The "love" of money instead of life, people & yourself including self-respect & for others, is the point of the post. NOT the money itself. Also worth mentioning that the pursuit of shelter, food & its consistency has ancient roots for mankind. But to the exclusion of all else? All things are allowed but are they profitable to the person as in character, morals, identity, role modeling & examples.
HERE'S ANOTHER VERSION OF THE POST POINT
How much is enough? How far past your needs being met shall we go? Do we put money away for our children, their children etc. Why? If it comes, so be it so I say why not? However, be mindful of who you are while doing all this. Who are you?
Does your money get all your life OR do you. Assets stay here. We go on.
