Real estate professionals, especially realtors, have been facing a lot of stress lately. We're no strangers to pressure, but we've become masters of problem-solving. Our stress comes from navigating challenging transactions and the highs and lows of buying and selling.
Moving ranks up there with major life events like death, divorce, retirement, and illness. Despite the immense stress, we real estate professionals have proven incredibly resilient.
We've weathered the storm of COVID-19, tackled a wild seller's market with multiple offers, and empathized with our stressed-out buyers. We've submitted countless offers, scoured every available property, and experienced the pressure of multiple bidding situations. We've seen interest rates double and triple.
Lately, we have been bombarded with details from NAR/DOJ and misinformation from industry sources. This has added to the strain, and some agents have been pushed out of the profession. In the last few months, I've attended countless webinars, Zoom meetings, and news flashes and read many magazine and online articles. These changes are going into effect this week.
The pressure affects not only our clients but also ourselves.
And then there's the regular stress that accompanies every real estate deal. When working with sellers, I always ask two crucial questions: Are you absolutely certain about moving? And are you absolutely certain about listing with me? And while I explain why I've sworn off moving myself, I remind them that I won't subject myself to the stress they're about to endure. Someone once told me that going through two divorces was less stressful than moving!
But despite all this, I love being a REALTOR and Broker. I truly enjoy shepherding my buyers and sellers through the rollercoaster of a real estate transaction.
When we started our Tuesday Zoom calls four years ago, we banded together to provide support, motivation, and wisdom. It was a great way to stay connected when meet-ups weren't possible. During a recent post about our AI sessions, Brian England quipped,
"I'm relieved I don't have to do homework in the rain, but I'm really enjoying the work produced by all of you!" He ended with his trademark "haha."
Finger-Painting using AI
For me, it's not homework; it's recess playtime. It's the satisfaction of sharing our knowledge and creating something wonderful together—akin to adult finger painting.
Learning is not homework; it's recess, fun, and playtime.
