Motivational Monday…Unplugged
This weekend was a reminder that the pressures of our obligations and commitments are often self-imposed.
Larry and I took a long weekend trip to KC for a reunion with his family and our good friends.
I’ve tried on previous trips to prewrite my posts but was not always successful. Years ago I set a personal goal of writing a post a day. It wasn’t for the points but my way of keeping the dendrites fired up.
I’ve not missed a day of posting and I try to respond to most comments on my posts. It’s not a requirement of ActiveRain. But, it’s something I’ve been committed to.
So that I could focus on family time, I wrote my posts and had them in draft mode - ready to go.
Many of you already know how to unplug and not let devices and unnecessary tasks prevent you from quality time with what’s truly important…real life! I did just that this weekend. With the exception of some commenting time in the car and while having coffee on the deck, I focused on family and friends.
It was my ah-ha moment ( ok, I’m late to the party) that no one is putting the “obligation” on me to write and comment every day but me.
My apologies for comments and responses not made but I’m back in the saddle and will be catching up to your posts!
Lesson learned:
When you are feeling stressed because of a deadline or obligation, step back and ask yourself if it is a real “ must- do” task or one of your own making.
