When looking for a new location, do you consider the entire area and what it has to offer? My son wasn't even walking when I bought my first house. However, I do remember deciding on a property based upon what else the property had to offer, besides four bedrooms, the adequate space in the kitchen, and an acre of land butting up to the Forest Preserves in Northern, Illinois. I explored other opportunities beyond the front and back door.
After learning I was in the Chain-O-Lake Area and that the house I proposed to buy had an HOA that maintained the fishing docks, I thought to myself. This would make a great location for my mom and dad to visit and for my dad to take my son and daughter down the street to the lake and teach them to fish, like he did for me when I was barely five years old.
As luck would have it, my father bought my son his first fishing pole and enjoyed taking his grandson to the lake. Yes! My father taught him how to fish and my daughter was happy doing other things with her friends who lived across the street from the lake.
When buying a home, I strongly recommend taking a look around to see if the area is a good fit for you before you buy. It's those little things to do, and skills you or others can learn besides what's being taught in school, or what the house has to offer that makes all the difference. Time goes by quickly. Don't delay or postpone your dreams. A dream is a wish and wishes can come true!
