Best Places to Live 2024 According to Wallet Hub

Wallet Hub announced its ten best places to live today and I was very surprised at the results.  Weather means a lot to me and many of these places tend to be colder weather climates.

Wallet Hub based its results on 6 criteria:

Affordability, Economy, Education, health, quality of life and safety.

Given these criteria, I was even more surprised by the results.

10th went to Wyoming...a smaller market but it ranks high in the 6 criteria and based upon that I would imagine it should have been higher.

9th New York . Wallet Hub rated NY as the highest quality of life and this alone propelled it to 9th on the list. Shockingly, it ranked 5th in safety....But New York City is not the entire state!

8th went to Wisconsin..these seems to be understandable.

7th went to Pennsylvania. I wrote last year that US News rated Lancaster PA the best place to live and overall this seems to be a good choice.

6th was Idaho based upon high ranking in affordability, safety and economy.

5th was New Hampshire..somewhat surprising to me because of its population and land mass sizes but economy, education health and safety settled it in for 5th.

4th was Utah....affordability, safety, income and employment rate.

3rd was the shocker of shocker...my home state of New Jersey. One comment by Wallet Hub was that it had the highest number of law enforcement per capita. Isn't that based on need, i.e. crime? LOL NJ did have the highest per capita income in the US at $96k.  Of course you need every bit if that to live there!!

2nd was Florida. Seems logical because so many people are moving there. Plethora o entertainment options, taxes and income were reasons for #2!

1st tah dah..was my second biggest shocker...Massachusetts. Education, quality of life, healthcare, quality of life. Affordability was the weak spot.

Waddya think?

I think Massachusetts is pretty cool and so many respects and has really good art as well! So yeah, I think you’ll be a really cool place to live!

I think the best place to live is different for everyone! For reasons like family, weather, activities, aka lifestyle. I wouldn't ever want to move back to New York regardless of where it is on the list - taxes were crazy!

Hi Paddy,
Although I find this kind of information interesting and informative, I believe just about anywhere could be a "best place to live," depending on what's most important to the individual(s). There are some places, of course, that aren't good for anyone, but they're stuck there for various reasons.
