The Disney Company designed Celebration and built it from the ground up with a small town feel. Inspiration was taken from a variety of designers and is now home to over 9,000 residents.
The Post Office in Celebration was designed to be a place for people to gather and is conveniently located right next to the Town Hall. Here are some interesting facts about the Celebration Post Office:
- The Celebration Post Office was designed by Michael Graves from Princeton NJ who is known for his postmodern architecture. Other buildings he has worked on include the Dolphin and Swan Hotels on Walt Disney World property.
- The Celebration Post Office features a rotunda in the entrance and is a wood board-and-batten building with painted metal roof.
- Outside features an open-air loggia for the town's mailboxes.
- An exposed wood joist ceiling is featured on the inside of the Rotunda.
- The design of the Post Office was based on St. Petersburg Florida’s historic landmark dating back to 1917 with the “open-air post office”.
