This last week as been a double whammy of changes in my life, a significant change to each aspect of my dual career life.
Of course we all know about the changes that kicked in for agent compensation over the weekend, so that was the big change in my real estate life. Change happens in this profession, and this is certainly one of the bigger ones, but as with all things, this too shall pass. Either it's an adapt and move on, or it becomes AAP (another agent's problem) when I transition to referral only business after our planned move to enjoy the view from here:
And while the compensation rules and all the form & practice changes that come with it are significant, they are known and a planned change. We've all known for months this was coming, and if we're not prepared it's just a matter of looking in the mirror to know who to blame.
The other significant life change for me over the last week was an accelerated timeline for an event that I thought was several years down the road: retirement from my engineering job. Corporate life comes with both risk and reward, and last Wednesday I got a little bit of both. I started the day with one set of plans, and ended with quite another, so when Baby New Year shows up this year, I'll start using the past tense when describing my engineering life. After 33.5 years, I'll be "pasturized". The reward for that exit is pretty significant financially, but still a big impact to my personal identity, and overall this change is something I'm going to be reconciling for quite some time.
But this change is similar to many others.
The processes for this and changes in real estate are the same.
Determine the information needed.
Obtain the information from reputable sources.
Process the information.
Make an action plan.
Act.
Reassess.
Adjust.
Repeat as needed.
And while it might seem like the end of the world as we know it, we can all still feel fine! I feel fine...
