Making a move to Tampa FL

Why is everybody moving to Tampa Bay? Well it’s no secret: we live in paradise. Tampa has become one of the hottest new places to live over the past few years. According to recent U.S. Census data, Tampa’s population increased more than 19% in the past 10 years. And there are no signs this is slowing down.

Here are five reasons Tampa Bay is seeing so many new residents.:

Weather

We live where others vacation. It's an outdoor playground - all the time. The average temperature here all year round is 73 degrees. Yes we have the hot, sticky summer months but we have those world-class beaches to cool down in. So if you are an outdoor enthusiast there is always something to do here.

Beach

No state income tax

Why would you want to live in New Jersey (up to 10.75%), New York (10.9%), Massachusetts (9%) or the District of Columbia (10.75%) when you have to give so much of your income back to the state? Florida is one of 7 states with no state income tax. That’s right. We pay state and local sales taxes, and property taxes are higher than other states, but we pay no state tax on income.

Reasonable real estate

Tampa Bay real estate is reasonably priced. Yes it has gone up. But 2023 ended with a median home price for single family homes of $410,000 in Tampa Bay. The area also has so many real estate options from waterfront condos to resort-style communities to land. And did you know that the Tampa Bay area has one of the hottest markets for rental homes in the nation?

Lifestyle

This relates directly back to the weather. We see an average of 246 days of sunshine every year in Tampa Bay. Compare that to some northern cities that only see sunshine a few days a month for the entire winter season. With our year-round nice weather, an active lifestyle is right outside your door. From world-class beaches to the St. Pete Pier to the Tampa Riverwalk, Fort Desoto and Hillsborough River parks, residents can enjoy the outdoor year-around.

Tampa Bay is also a hotbed of culture, food and sports. We have a large variety of museums, eclectic restaurants and championship sports teams. And again world-class beaches. We live where others vacation so we can enjoy top-rated beaches including Clearwater Beach, St. Pete Beach, Siesta Key and Honeymoon Island.

Job growth

Job market

Tampa Bay has a low unemployment rate (3%), which is below the national average. The area is desirable for people looking for job opportunities and growth. The Tampa Bay area also touts a low start-up cost for businesses compared to other cities and growing technology field. And Tampa Bay is home to more than 10 companies that made the Fortune 500 list including Publix, Raymond James Financial, Jabil, Chase, KForce and more.
