Bill Salvatore, Realtor- Arizona Elite Properties
My pleasure Bill Salvatore - East Valley. A lot of folks have been asking for updates and I thought the easiest way would be to post our most recent Eblast.
Good Morning John DL Arendsen
Nice looking and concise post.
Massachusetts just passed new ADU legislation.
ADUs are now "by right" needing no special permit or variance
ADUs can now be detached
ADUs cannot be over 900 sq. ft.
ADUs can now allow nonfamily member occupancy as long as there is a separate parking spaced allotted for the ADU.
The primary housing unit of the property no longer requires owner occupancy.
Many people are unhappy
I know Doug Dawes. You just can't please everyone on anything. In Cali we have the NIMBYS vs YIMBYS thing going on. But I'm really liking the fact that they are "by right". Nothing like what you have to deal with in the Cali permit process.
Hi John- I like the idea of multi-gen living especially when it allows for everyone to maintain as much "me room" as possible. Our friends had his mother and father and her mother living with them. They found the perfect home that had space for everyone.
Generational living has always been the norm in Asian, Indian, Latin and many European Nations Kathy Streib. Dissing our parents to a senior living facility has been primarily a Baby Boomer tradition.
But then a lot of our Greatest Generation parents couldn't wait to sell their homes and buy that 5th wheeler to hit the road in and the mobile home in that mobile home park to park it in when they weren't traveling right?
Our society has circled back and is now changing out of need. I'm wondering how things would be going today had we not had this real estate dilemma we're now living with.
It sounds like a really good solution to me and I would think these are becoming even more popular since it's become too expensive to move.
Hello John - life is cyclical in many ways. The appearance and popularity of ADUs as part of the housing picture seems to fit into that concept in my opinion.
Hi John I've assisted a number of folks over the years in finding the right setup for multi-gen living. They've all been very pleased with their choices - especially when it comes to caring for seniors or grandkids. It's been a joy to see those bonds come together seamlessly with my multi-gen folks. There is one multi-gen home close to us and I saw just this morning that it's going on the market. It truly did create generational wealth for that family.
I remember when you first began posting about ADUs. I had no idea what an ADU was. Now, news of them is everywhere. People are installing them in their backyards. What a great idea, especially for multi-generational living.
CONGRATULATIONS John, on having this blog FEATURED in the Old Farts Clubgroup!
