Good morning, Brian... this has been true for several years now. I'm always telling my listing clients that buyers will pay a premium... but only if a house is move-in ready. And many won't spend less for a home that isn't turn-key. People will reward a seller's sweat equity.

Brian England I am not sure what you view as move in ready, fully furnished with all new stuff? I was NOT a slumlord but my rentals were older properties in good condition, swept clean, and tenants certainly could move right in with their belonging.

Each area is different. Most of the buyers here would prefer move in-ready but if the location is superb they will go with an opportunity and find a contractor ASAP!

Well, it's not a great deal if you add up all of the repairs George Souto but if they can do the work themselves, then it can definitely become a good deal.

You are so right, buyers do want a move in ready home. Not every seller can afford to update or is willing to update the home. The ones that make it ready for the buyers will sell faster. One must validate the price.
