1310 original look W Arch Searcy AR

The picture above shows an old view of a house that still occupies 1310 W. Arch in Searcy AR.  Take time to hustle to     https://activerain.com/droplet/5Dbk  and read an old blog that I did in 2013.  Also read the many comments about it and check the pictures. Wonderful Searcy history.

Now go forward and check this old blog from May 4 2024.                        https://activerain.com/droplet/J5mg  More interesting pictures and some repeats.  But it had just sold.  I went by and snapped a picture.

And now!!!!  Brace yourself!!!  A changed look!!  Isn't history fun!!  I am surprised that they left the wrought iron!  Personally, I like the first picture best!!

You can see the love and attention in each photo. I am glad they left the wrought iron on the porch; its character is hard to replace.

Hello Barbara - it's interesting to me seeing how buildings change.  Thanks for sharing another slice of Searcy Arkansas history.  The bicyclists in the b/w photo adds an interesting perspective too.

I like the first photo best too.  I'm not fond of the color painted on it in the last photo.  As an aside, the house I grew up in was a Queen Anne style home built in 1905.  When I lived there, the house was painted white with forest green trim.  Many years later, a new owner came in and painted it Redwood Red.  It was ghastly.  Finally, a few months ago, I drove by it again, and found an even newer owner had repainted it a pretty shade of blue.  I can live with that.

Barbara S. Duncan  loved your post and how interesting, when I lived in Waterbury CT a hundred years ago, I bought an Old Colonial and wanted to make sure that I did not mess with the old stuff... just scrapped off 13 coats of paint on the inside, got rid of six coats of wall paper and the list goes on and on.... never got to the outside sold it as a fixed for more than what I paid for :)Endre

Endre, I am glad you made money.  I love looking at the old houses but do not want to occupy one because they do cost a lot to maintain.  Thanks for your comment.
