Real Estate Sales-Avoiding Poor Eating/Drinking Habits
With the not so predictable hours and high stress, real estate practice can fuel some destructive eating and drinking habits. When I started in the business lunch was whatever fast food line was shortest. Then a coffee (or 4) as the sun danced across the sky. What did this get me? About 25 lbs my first year in the business. Let's look at some ways to manage your eating/drinking habits...
Eating/ Drinking Better
1) Follow a schedule--We can't control our appointments, but we can control when we grab a meal. I normally fast until lunchtime. Prior to that it's one thing (okay a big thing) of coffee, and lots of water. And not eating after 7:30pm has helped me sleep better.
2) Have healthy snacks at the office, or else--I learned from experience, no fruit or granola nearby meant a trip to the vending machine for me. And who the heck is strong enough to resist a vending machine Snicker's Bar?
3) Meal Prep-- Those little meal containers are worth their weight in gold. Done right meal prepping will save money too (priced a Big Mac lately?)
4) Watch those carbs--There was a time I would eat a MASSIVE baked potato (naturally loaded with every unhealthy thing you can dream up). Fighting the urge for a post meal nap was almost impossible.
5) Watch the alcohol-- If the stress drives you to drink, do it! Just make sure your liquid of choice is water with lemon...Alcohol to calm the stress of a real estate transaction can be a tire fire. Be careful!
