All funds raised by the Surf Dog Surf-a-Thon support the Helen Woodward Animal Center (pets and programs), plus provide education and awareness about pet ownership and adoption responsibility. The Helen Woodward Animal Center sponsors a variety of different programs and fun-raising events throughout the year.
Here's a video on YouTube from last year's event.
If you’ve never seen a dog surf before here’s your chance to see lots of canine surfers, perhaps 80 or so in a number of weight categories, dressed in their finest surfing gear, or maybe even naked! Pre-registration is now closed but you can register at the event from 7:30 until 8:30 am.
There will be lots of fun, with plenty of vendors, a doggie costume contest, and of course spectacular Southern California beach weather (sunny and high 80s predicted for Sunday).
Dog Beach is located on the Coast Road/Route 101 at the north end of Del Mar just past the Via de la Valle intersection in south Solana Beach. Parking is NOT free, and is limited, so expect to park a bit of a distance and walk. But consider all that good exercise!
