Sprinklers and Golf Course Irrigation

By

Let me save you an embarrassing post on social media, “It’s raining, and The Villages are running the sprinklers and watering the golf courses!”  You will have 100 comments correcting you some maybe not nice as people love to try to make people feel stupid.  Here is the story, many of the ponds are connected with pipes and a major part of The Villages Storm Water Management System.  The ponds server another purpose suppling the irrigation for many common areas and the golf courses.  In a way the ponds in The Villages are retention ponds and when we have a threat of a major rainfall like a tropical storm the ponds are lowered.  This is the season to lower the ponds!

A few years ago, a gentleman got on social media complaining about he bought a house in July and came in September and the pond behind his home was half empty.  Meanwhile we had a tropical storm forming in the Gulf.  Oh yes you can imagine the comments!

Hello Dick - digging deeper into almost anything can prove that doing so remains a good idea.  And, if I say so myself, that fits into the theme of your post.  Happy Monday.

Good morning Dick. Understanding water management and water conservation allows the golf courses to remain green and the ponds to do their job. Enjoy your day.

Dick Betts sometimes what may seem like something very STUPID, is not so STUPID once we understand why it is being done.

Water should always be conserved but the sprinklers are on timers for a daily dose and the only way to shut them off is to shut off the power and then they all need to be reset.
