Reagan. . .

Reagan - The Film. . .

Earlier this month, I saw the film, Reagan.

As a native Californian, I have known of and about Ronald Wilson Reagan for a long time. Not a lot, mind you. Though I was a child when he became Governor of California, I was curious about the world around me even then.

Back to the movie. As someone who enjoys movies and some of the inside stuff about moviemaking, I knew a little about it prior to seeing it.

I enjoy an interesting story line. Character development. Good acting. Reagon hit all of those points for me. Obviously not a complete story of his life, I appreciated the way the well-written and well-paced plot moved along. It also effectively filled in some of the gaps, but not all.

Let's face it, it's the history of a man's life. And a significant public figure at that. And keeping things in context, it is a movie. Art, if you will. An interpretation. I found the result enjoyable. My movie-going companion liked it as well. Although less acquainted with our 40th President, he thought it was a film deserving of award consideration purely on its entertainment value. And on that point, I agree.

If you see it, maybe it will inspire some food for thought. May I suggest some jellybeans. Yes, they play a role, albeit a small part but they are a sweet reminder of what makes everyone a bit more human.

Well I have a curiosity and saw many of his movies. Even thought Jane far more charismatic than Nancy but can’t get comfortable in a theater for the sound.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 - I have less familiarity with his movies, the character Jane makes an appearance in the movie.  I understand how the in-person movie-going experience presents many challenges for people.

I had forgotten that Reagan loved jellybeans. Here’s to a great man. I’m glad you liked the movie

Lise Howe - coincidentally or not, a recent trip to the Reagan Library in SoCal had additional evidence of his appreciation for jellybeans.  In the gift shop as well as in other ways.  Subtle and otherwise.

Good morning, Michael. My husband and I have plans to see this movie later this week and I can't wait!

Nina Hollander, Broker - I was able to use "there you go again" to not-so-subtly remind two movie-goers in front of us to quit their chit-chatting as the film started.  Although, I wasn't particularly forceful, I made my point, and they stopped.

Good one Michael Jacobs! People who talk in a public movie house annoy the bejesus out of me.

Hmm, I have seen it come across the list of movies for my brother and I to see but he doesn't seem to have much interest in seeing it, so I likely won't see it, haha.  I am glad that you enjoyed it.

Brian England - there are certainly higher profile films "out there" this year in the multiplexes.   It's good to see asses of all kinds filling the seats as the business of movies is important on many levels.

HaHa.  But I digress. . .   Buns and Puns seem kind of appropriate.  As does rhyming plus some wordplay.

Wayne Martin - good to know.  While I have seen a lot of movies over the last few years, choosing good, better or best and even worst would be difficult for me.  I enjoyed the film.

I am not a big fan of Bill O'Reilly, however he did a book (available in books on tape) called Killing Reagan. I loved the narrated version in books on tape, it was far less flattering, far more in depth and showed how this once in a lifetime leader changed the world for the better (IMO). BTW...I thought John Voight was absolutely incredible in that movie.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - I am aware of his book but haven't read it.  The cast including Jon Voight did a very good job.  I thought the pace was very good given the topic and how much was covered.

I so look forward to seeing this movie Michael!  Another friend just told me about her experience of seeing the movie the other day and she loved it.  He was such an interesting man that I looked up to as a young person. I so remember his sense of humor and the interesting way he said things to make a point.

I can't wait to see it Michael Jacobs . Ronald Reagan was my favorite President, he cut through the crap and spoke to the people frequently as opposed to hiding in his basement.

Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! - considering the number of Presidents we have had in this country and far fewer in each of our lifetimes, it is interesting to see what each brought to the position.  If you have the opportunity to see the film, I hope you enjoy it.

Sharon Tara - though you may be too young to remember, I recall "You Were There" -type films in elementary school where real-life stories were reenacted.  I enjoyed them a lot.  That's not to say, the movie, Reagan is similar, but your comment brought back that memory.
