Reagan - The Film. . .
Earlier this month, I saw the film, Reagan.
As a native Californian, I have known of and about Ronald Wilson Reagan for a long time. Not a lot, mind you. Though I was a child when he became Governor of California, I was curious about the world around me even then.
Back to the movie. As someone who enjoys movies and some of the inside stuff about moviemaking, I knew a little about it prior to seeing it.
I enjoy an interesting story line. Character development. Good acting. Reagon hit all of those points for me. Obviously not a complete story of his life, I appreciated the way the well-written and well-paced plot moved along. It also effectively filled in some of the gaps, but not all.
Let's face it, it's the history of a man's life. And a significant public figure at that. And keeping things in context, it is a movie. Art, if you will. An interpretation. I found the result enjoyable. My movie-going companion liked it as well. Although less acquainted with our 40th President, he thought it was a film deserving of award consideration purely on its entertainment value. And on that point, I agree.
If you see it, maybe it will inspire some food for thought. May I suggest some jellybeans. Yes, they play a role, albeit a small part but they are a sweet reminder of what makes everyone a bit more human.
