They Call It Fishing, Not Catching

In the Real Estate business there is a difference between shopping and buying.  Just like in other endeavors, there is a major difference.  If you are just window shopping, GREAT.  If you are ready to start your buying process.  The next step is chatting with a mortgage lender, or if you are paying cash, check with your money man be it a lawyer, financial advisor or what ever.

Starting the process by "just browsing" could be setting yourself up for heartbreak.

Before you go looking for (and falling in love with) a home, you need a realistic idea of what you can afford, make sure your credit is in good shape, get pre-approved for a mortgage, and most importantly find a great agent to work with.

I can help you with that last one, I'm the great agent.

Yes the first step is determining what you can afford and more importantly what can you maintain as far as maintenance, property taxes, utilities, etc. Great points.
