September 11, 2001 Never Forget!

Thank you for sharing what today means to you, it is so poignant and touching. It brought back so many memories from kids of friends, and friend and colleagues of friends who were there, most of whom lost their lives that day.

Your annual posting is a blessing and your pictures are spot on.  NEVER FORGET!

I am sorry for your loss. I was originally supposed to be in the towers that day for 2 different reasons- neither of which ultimately worked out but obviously this was to my benefit. Even though I wasn't in the towers that day, I was still on the main trading desk at JP Morgan Chase headquarters near Grand Central- and there were reports of bombs at Grand Central at that time. It was a terrible day I will never forget.

As to the slogan we shall never forget...I don't believe that. We said that about the holocaust and yet in recent years there has been a growing number of holocaust deniers. The truth matters- and it's important that the truth doesn't get buried in alterative facts. Hopefully, we never do forget and we learn from this experience.

Thank you for sharing this remembrance every year.  So very sad for all those that were lost, including your friend (father of your son's friend.)  The one word that fits this best is "surreal."  Who would think that this could happen here and yet it did.  It's a sad reminder of vulnerability and the huge loss of life.  

Such a touching remembrance ....WE all were  deeply impacted by the actions of that day.

My daughter is a nurse, formerly a paramedic and firefighter.  My son in law is a paramedic and firefighter.  I served in the Army, I was also a Navy brat.  It's a day that means a lot to me as well.  My flag is today and will always be flown at half mast on this day.

I consider that day to be the second day that will live in infamy 

We were arrogant and complacent thinking we were completely safe and that was not the case

we we cannot say never again but at the very least we will be more vigilant

Hello George Souto it was very sad day, we should never forget always remembering and honoring those lives lost. Excellent post for September 11, 2001.

I still remember it like it was yesterday. We received a call from one of Diane's Attorney who we became friends with out here in LA. He said turn the TV on... and sadly we watched the Twin Towers.....Endre

Much respect for those who put their lives on the line to save others, George. We must always remember 9-11-2001 as one of the most heinous, terrorist acts to ever take place in America and protect our citizens first!

George- I'm late with this but I was looking for your special post today.  I remember your story and no matter how many times I've read it, I am still touched with sadness for your particular loss. It reminds us that the losses were personal ones to so many.

Thank you for sharing this post today. 23 years ago, today and while we say we will never forget I think people like you need to keep reminding us all about the loved ones, friends and family that died in this horrific event. We need to be reminded of the terrorists who committed this crime against humanity. We need to stay vigilant against the terrorists including Hamas that still carry the mission to destroy us. 

You honor your friend and all of us by keeping this memory at the forefront. We should never forget September 11, 2001. Thank you 

It could have been prevented . Terrorists broke laws by paying cash for one way tickets…overstaying their visas…. Red flag was taking flying lessons but not concerned with learning to land. Government responded by turning country upside down and dramatically expanding government with Homeland Security established .

This is a day that we will never forget

The steel beam from the World Trade Center is a wonderful monument to perpetuate the memory of those who tragically perished on that horrible day.

What a touching 9/11 post. I'm sorry I missed it earlier this week but so glad to have read your words. I'm so sorry for your personal loss. The photos are wonderful, especially of the memorial beam and memorial, and of the touching paver your family purchased in memory of your friend and everyone else who lost their lives.
