u1996: John F. Kennedy Jr. marries Carolyn Bessette Sept. 21 on Cumberland Island, GA.

u1982: On Sept. 19, university professor Scott Fahlman posts ":-)" - the first emoticon.

u1973: Argentine President Juan Peron returns to power Sept. 22, 18 years after his ouster.

u1955: Argentine President Juan Peron is ousted by his military Sept. 19.

u1947: The Air Force is established as a separate U.S. military branch on Sept. 18.

u1862: On Sept 22, the Emancipation Proclamation orders all slaves freed by Jan. 1, 1863.

u1846: On Sept. 23, Astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle discovers the planet Neptune.

u1806: After two years, the Lewis and Clark expedition returns Sept. 23 to St. Louis, MO

Good morning, Dorie... so hard to believe it's been so long since JFK, Jr was married and not that many less since he and Carolyn perished. I was in an elevator in a NY City building with him in the 1990's and I can attest to the fact that he was quite dishy.
