The Most Common Air Test Pollutant: Mold
A simple air test can let you know if you have pollutants building up inside your home. One very common in-home pollutant is mold. Mold can cause an array of health problems that can adversely affect you and your family, such as headaches, wheezing, coughing, dizziness, and shortness of breath. It can also trigger asthma problems, red eyes, and skin rashes. If your air test indicates, you have mold in your home you may be tempted to solve the issue yourself. Mold, however, can prove difficult to get rid of on your own.
The Dangers of Mold
Growing mold can damage any material it’s found on, such as drywall and wood, which in turn can impair the structural integrity of your home. It can also grow onto your furniture and damage it, too. Mold feeds on wet wood which will weaken your walls and floors. The moist environment mold needs is also a breeding ground for other harmful organisms. These include bacteria and dust that can further deteriorate the structural integrity of your home and damage your health.
