How Real Estate Agents Save Time, Energy, Emotions and Money

Today we may have heard or continue to hear how real estate agents are making too much money for their efforts. Yet, very few  "experts" and even more importantly, the consumers, actually know all the behind the scenes activities that happen within any real estate transaction especially for out of area home buyers or vacant land buyers.

Professional real estate agents and REALTORS®  are the "Source of the Source". These state licensed professionals can guide potential sellers and buyers to the various resources to expedite sales of residential property or vacant land parcels.

For example, when buying a home in AZ, these professional real estate agents can "Be the Source of the Source" for:

  • Local Financial Lenders
  • Local Title and Escrow Firms
  • Local Insurance Companies especially for Manufactured Home
  • Local Vendors for Manufactured Homes, Plumbers, Electricians, etc.
  • Local Inspectors such as Home, Termite, Solar, Well, etc.
  • Local Utility Firms such as Electric, Gas, Water
  • Quick access to property information from property dimensions, to property taxes, to zoning ordinances
  • MLS information not visible to the general public/consumers
  • Access to EPA Flood Information
  • Local Home Owner's Associations' Contact Information
  • Road Accessibility
  • Properties on the market that are specific to the buyer's needs and wants
  • Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) that compares Apples to Apples especially for rural properties and vacant land

The above is just a partial list of how real estate agents or REALTORS® actively work to be the source of the source.

Possibly this 24 part series of "She Works Hard for the Money Part 1" may begin to provide some additional insight.

Hi Leanne,
The process is always complex, even when it appears easy on the surface. You are right. Few understand what goes on behind the scenes, including after hours.

Given your experience, I appreciate the affirmation about what happens below the surface. Thank you and good morning.

Leanne, many think it is easy to be in real estate, we get a call and we list it, we get another call and we sell it, so with that said not sure why you are wasting all this time to discourage future agents when the truth is it is an easy business 10 am to 11 am working Lunch from 11 am to 2pm and then work from 2-3 pm and then drive home and call it a day:)))))))))))))))Endre

It seems that what people hear or think is the case, usually is not reality, haha.  People should ask questions of people who are actually in the know, the news certainly cannot be relied upon these days, haha.

And unfortunately, people have a tendency to still believe what they see and hear.  Taking the time to undertake the research is not something most folks actually do. Agree about the news.

Good morning Leanne,

How did I miss your post? I'm so glad that Carol Williams featured it in her Saturday Series. You are so right few understand what goes on behind the scenes, including after hours. That is why the failure rate in our industry is so high after a few years of bring in the business.

The failure in general for small businesses with less than 20 employees is similarly high. My sense is the failure is due to lack of strategic thinking.
