Welcome to First Response Resolution, LLC’s official blog! We are a specialty tax firm practicing in Eagle Point Oregon. The focus of my practice is solving tax problems for individuals and businesses, and representing taxpayers before the IRS and their individual State Departments of Revenue. Think of us as your Financial First Responders who specialize in saving troubled taxpayers. We help people who are struggling with tax problems get their lives back on track so they can focus on what matters most to them.
In this blog post we will be discussing one of the most critical IRS Notices taxpayers may ever receive, IRS Letter 11. This notice hasn’t been sent by the IRS since before COVID, but as of last month they have resumed these collection activities in full force. If you or someone you know owes the IRS back due taxes, they may be receiving IRS Letter 11 soon, if they haven’t already. If the taxpayer’s case is with the Automated Collection System, ACS, they will receive IRS Letter 11. If their case is more serious and has been assigned to the field to be managed by a Revenue Officer, they will receive Letter 1058. Either way, these letters mean the same thing, the IRS is taking action now.
These letters are the last notification taxpayers will receive before the IRS Seizes their property or rights to property! If you are receiving IRS Letter 11, the Internal Revenue Service has already sent you an entire series of notices demanding payment of the tax owed. Letter 11 is the last shot across the bow. You will have 30 days from the date printed on the notice to act before your assets are seized. This means the IRS may levy your bank account, garnish your wages, or seize physical property to satisfy the debt owed. If they levy your bank, they can seize up to the full amount owed, potentially wiping out your bank account balance entirely. DO NOT IGNORE THIS LETTER! You need competent representation and guidance!
All IRS Notices should be paid attention to, but this is the final warning before they take decisive action. We hear from taxpayers who are interested in our services all the time who say they plan on continuing to “dodge the government” for as long as they can because they can’t afford to pay, this is a big mistake. I constantly tell taxpayers that this is the wrong move and that they absolutely must address their problems head on, but often they don’t take action. Your case will become exceedingly more complicated, AND MORE EXPENSIVE, to address if you choose to put your head in the sand and hope the IRS doesn’t focus on you. If you believe the IRS forgot about you, THINK AGAIN.
The IRS and taxes in general can be complicated and intimidating. If you have received IRS Notices regarding back taxes owed and are facing potential Tax Liens and Levies, it is well advised to seek competent representation when dealing with the IRS. Most people would not go to court and face litigation without an attorney, and it is in your best interest to engage a qualified representative to deal with the IRS on your behalf.
