Trader Joe's Chicken Shawarma Bowl

An ActiveRain ReBlog I feel fortunate to live in Southern California.  For multiple reasons.  Yes, it's not perfect, far from it.

On a lighter note, I appreciate that there are numerous opportunities to find a Trader Joe's location nearby.   And while you may not find perfection on their stores' shelves, I was fortunate to find Roy's suggestion of this Chicken Shawarma Bowl on a recent visit to TJ's.

Although, it won't likely be an item included on my regular visit to the store, it was tasty, and I will likely pick it up again on occasion.

I enjoy Trader Joe's for finding familiar favorites as well as looking at some new-to-me additions.   For me, checking the nutrional label on any prepared frozen food package almost seems like required reading these days.  But I digress. . .

I am disabling comments - please go to Roy's original post to leave your comments if you choose to do so.    I rarely reblog so this is a homage of sorts to AR ReBlog Royalty.

Trader Joe's Chicken Shawarma Bowl

Trader Joe's Chicken Shawarma Bowl

Chef Dolores was shopping at Trader Joe's and decided to pick up a couple of their Chicken Shawarma Bowls for our lunch at home. This is the first time we have tried this selection. It was good and very filling for 400 calories. We will get them again.

Each Chicken Shawarma Bowl is made with a bed of fluffy basmati rice, which our supplier tops with red bell pepper, spinach, and diced, Shawarma-style-seasoned Chicken, along with a tart, tangy, and garlicky sour cream sauce to tie them all together. After just a few minutes in the microwave (or a little longer in the conventional oven), this full-flavored Bowl is ready to enjoy as a quick and easy work lunch, an effortless weeknight dinner, or as part of a more involved, Mediterranean-style spread with your favorite hummus, some Dolmas, and a bit of toasted pita or lavash bread. Savory, hearty, and consummately convenient, we recommend keeping a Chicken Shawarma Bowl or two in your freezer to make the most of those “what-on-earth-am-I-gonna-eat?” moments.
