Mending the Broken: Healing with Intentional Love

The message from LR Knost is powerful in its simplicity, offering profound hope in the face of a world that often feels fractured and divided. The words touch on a universal truth: that brokenness is inevitable, but healing is always possible—and that healing doesn’t come passively with the passage of time. Rather, it comes through intentional action, through love that is given freely, without conditions or limitations.

This resonates with me deeply, especially in our current climate, where divisions seem more pronounced than ever. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the enormity of the challenges we face as a society, but Knost's words serve as a reminder that we are not powerless. Each of us has the ability to make a difference through the choices we make, the love we share, and the light we carry within us.

What really stands out is the idea that mending our world requires intention. It's not enough to wait for things to get better on their own or to believe that time alone will heal wounds. We must be deliberate in our actions, choosing kindness and understanding, even when it's hard. This kind of love—intentional, extravagant, unconditional—is what has the power to repair what is broken. It's about seeing others in their humanity and responding with empathy, even when we disagree.

I am moved by the challenge in the quote, a call to act rather than to despair. It suggests that each of us has the ability to be a source of light in the darkness, no matter how small our individual actions may seem. The broken world doesn’t just await change; it waits for us—for the unique light we each bring, for the intentional love we can give.

In a time when it feels like we are constantly surrounded by division, I find this message empowering. It reminds me that change starts with us, and that by showing up in the world with love, we have the power to create the kind of healing and unity that we so desperately need.

I love it. The sad thing to me is that the brokenness is being done on purpose by two political parties that simply said wish to remain in power forever. REALLY SAD.

The impact of kindness is not unlike the ripples made by a small rock hitting water. The rock may be small but the way that simple act spreads is noteworthy. A small act of kindness does the same.

Hi Dorie- I love love love this post!  The quote is one I'd not heard but will remember it!!  Those who would harm us are acting with full intent. It is up to us to challenge that intent and do what we can to heal our country and those around us. We cannot shake our heads in disgust. We have to reach out to others with kindness and humanity.

Dorie things do not happen by us merely hoping that they happen, as the quote states it requires intention.  However, intentions need to be acted on if intentions are to become a reality.

I worry about the division in our country.  I sometimes think political forces do it intentionally.  Afterall, they fund raise off it.
