It's football season and often the teams who are best at the fundamentals, the ability to block and tackle, are the ones that finish with the win.
Real estate is full of fundamentals, and the agents that master the fundamentals have a much better chance of being successful.
And while blogging isn't a necessary fundamental for most agents, it CAN be a part of successful lead generation for agents. And just like real estate in general, blogging has its own set of fundamentals.
Some things would seem to not be said, but we're going to say them anyway!
If you're going to blog, spelling and grammar matter. Admittedly spelling and grammar rules are..shall we say...more relaxed than in years past, but for some potential clients, the ability to use the King's English properly is still a basic requirement to be considered.
Your posts need to be easily read. White space, a decent sized font, some eye candy (pictures) all contribute to your posts being easily read. Using 14 syllable words that overshoot your audience? That could be an issue unless your target audience is MENSA members.
Know your audience and provide them the content they seek. I'm a big proponent of providing unique, relevant real estate content that is pertinent to YOUR local market. Do that and you'll find you are light years ahead of most of your competition.
Build up a sufficient library of content to be found. Blogging isn't a one post and just wait for the phone to ring activity. You've got to publish regularly (and regularly isn't one every month) until you've gained traction with search results.
Use specifics in your titles and posts. You serve a market, name the cities/counties/subdivisions/etc. E.g. "Ranch home for sale" will lose to " "Ranch home for sale in Cincinnati's Best 55+ Community".
Make it easy to contact you. Is your contact information easily findable? And do you respond when people try to reach you?
Master these fundamentals of blogging basics, the block and tackle techniques, and your chance of scoring clients goes up.
