Man, Stinking Up The Place!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Ward County Notary Services 607851

Early in the Fall season when we may first smell pumpkin spice aerosols it smells good and it is a sure reminder of Fall and that Halloween is coming. Suddenly before we know it pumpkin spice is everywhere including in our coffee (hopefully not by being having aerosol sprayed into it).

Of course there is a Real Estate application to man made scents and home SALES. Few things are more obnoxious to home buyers/shopper then being smacked in the face with the obnoxious scent of an air freshener that has been sprayed liberally through a home. Who are you kidding? If you want to sell your home for it's maximum value get new carpet, paint the walls, do what ever it takes to eliminate the pet order before you list your house. Do it before an open house. That pet odor, if not properly eliminated is going to cost you thousands of dollars one way or another... and spray aerosols are not going to do it.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Hello Bob - home sellers who really want to move their property will be sensical and avoid any scents that seem to annoy others.  It can be difficult in times where finding anything that doesn't annoy anyone is problematic.  Selling a home is never easy.

That's for sure Michael Jacobs finding something, anything, that doesn't annoy any one is impossible.

This is good advice to share. Pet odors will be an automatic turn off for many.

Michael Jacobs you are so right when you say  It can be difficult in times where finding anything that doesn't annoy anyone is problematic.   . I have had issues in my office where a neighboring office thought one scent I was using smelled like something was burning but they must have bought a case of Glade and opened them all at once and that didn't bother them.

I don't mind a little bit of pumpkin spice but too much of a good thing is well, too much!

Hello Bob, I have some clients that think they need to spray their home before all showing.  I soon bake cookies and get that smell.

OMG Bob a couple of months ago our very dear friends wanted to see a penthouse condo in a building they'd been considering moving too.  It was prices so low as to what units typically go for in Scottsdale.

Walked in the door and SMACK in your face - cheap smells of air freshners and candles.  DUH. Who do you think you're kidding?  The photos were nothing like the real condition of the unit.  It was a total gut - as in TOTAL GUT.  Now way would they'd be getting this sold unlese they came down at least $100K.  I noticed it's been off the market.......shocking! LOL

Like you said Anna "Banana" Kruchten who do they think they are kidding? When you open a door and get knocked down with fragrances the price needs to drop a bundle.

Amen Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint-Idaho . Getting rid of the source is the only way. It can be expensive when the source is urine that has sunk into the subflooring.

Spot on with this one, Bob. Those products are full of toxins too! None of us should be breathing in that junk.

Dr. Paula McDonald I feel that way about all aerosols. It is why I use roll-on deodorants.

Ah, yes, the pumpkin spice candles.  I kind of like them, actually!

I don't mind them for a short period of time like in a store/shop when I can leave when I wish Myrl Jeffcoat . As a guest in someone's home it would be overwhelming and cause me a headache.
