Sunrise and Success: The Journey Continues (photo by Gary Coles)
Back in ActiveRain: New Beginnings
Hi ActiveRain Community!
It’s been a while since I last posted, but after stepping away from real estate in Las Vegas and exploring the world through travel, coaching, and consulting, I’m excited to reconnect with all of you. Recently, I captured a beautiful sunrise that got me thinking about new beginnings and the path I’ve taken over the last few years.
For those of you who don’t know me, I was active here for many years, sharing insights and advice on real estate, marketing, and the various ups and downs we all face in the business. My journey eventually led me to something unexpected yet incredibly fulfilling: coaching individuals for interviews and presentations, which, in a way, started with coaching my own agents through buyer and seller interviews.
What started with helping my agents prepare for buyer and seller interviews has evolved into a full-fledged coaching business. Whether it's job interviews, public speaking, or sales presentations, I’ve been helping professionals improve their communication skills and confidence. And guess what? The skills that made us successful in real estate are the same ones that help anyone nail an interview or presentation.
Why Public Speaking and Interview Skills Matter (Especially in Real Estate)
As agents, we’re constantly selling — not just properties, but ourselves. Whether you’re meeting a potential buyer for the first time or pitching a listing to a seller, you’re in an interview. And that’s why mastering these skills is essential to growing your business.
Confidence Sells: Just like in a listing presentation, if you believe in what you’re saying, your client will too. Confidence comes from practice, preparation, and understanding how to deliver your message clearly.
Body Language Speaks Volumes: Your words matter, but so does your body language. Maintaining eye contact, using open gestures, and controlling your posture can make or break your presentation.
Preparation is Key: Just like we prepare for listing presentations with market reports, comps, and a solid plan, preparation for an interview or presentation is crucial. Have your talking points ready, anticipate questions, and always be ready for the unexpected.
Overcoming Nerves: Even the most seasoned agents get nervous before a big presentation. The trick is learning how to channel that nervous energy into something positive. I’ve coached many people on this, and I can tell you from experience: it is absolutely possible to turn anxiety into a performance booster.
