While I May Not Embrace Technology
I Do Appreciate A Good K.I.S.S. Approach to Adapting to the Reality of
Real Estate Life

It was a while back. Although I may not recall the exact date, I remember becoming aware that combining technology with a high touch technique was a possibility. It seemed like it could be a solution that was tailor-made for me. Eureka! That’s definitely a strategy that spoke to this low-tech guy.
Although not a luddite, I've rarely been an early adapter. And that's why the K.I.S.S. rule of engagement comes into play. You know, Keep It Simple, Stupid. In my opinion, life is often too complicated, why not stay where simplicity stays as part of the scenario. Yes, that's my approach and here are my three examples:

My cell phone - again, pretty simple. My first cellular phone was decidedly not smart. In fact, even receiving a call was nearly cost-prohibitive. So, this cheapskate kept my old-school pager active for longer than I should have and used that brick-like device in conjunction with my familiar beeper. The eventual arrival of a smarter telephone tool was nice. But let's not go too far, right? I was and still am reluctant to add apps and assorted other bright, shiny objects. Being out of range, so to speak, worked and continues to work for me. Yes, I digress.

Prior to real estate, I was kinda comfortable with the basics of computer use. Very basic. Nothing too complicated, but a bit beyond the image shown above. As I entered the profession, MLS books and other 20th-century-era introductions were still very much in use. And the office I joined was not filled with technological wizards. My new officemates seemed impressed with my speed which tells you more about their expertise than my skillset. Control-alt-delete seemed to be a new-to-them computer insight that amazed them. Oh, well. Again, I digress.

Lockboxes and access to them. Obviously, an important part of a real estate practitioner's toolbox. I saw many changes in this segment of the business. Of course, the human element still came into play as errors and mishaps seem to be a constant. Still, digressing even though I am no longer active in the business. Life goes on. . .

This is my entry to the October 2024 ActiveRain Challenge hosted by Carol Williams and Frank Worrell. Definitely not complicated but this submission has been sealed with a K.I.S.S.
